Hard Knocks on Nuenen

WikingTheRuthless (Panzer Elite - Tank Hunters)
Fulnc (Wehrmacht - Blitzkrieg)

vs.

TheDeadlyShoe (Allied - Infantry)
Freek (Allied - Armor)

Axis victory

An interesting battle that (to me) demonstrated the weakness of Shreks on hedgerow maps. With open paths and sufficient cover, a medium tank can run rings around shrek troops.  Even triple shrek troops with mean looks and a taste for blood.

The early game wasn't very exciting, but the late game really kicked into gear with a highly mobile battle of harass and probe that kept shifting across the whole front as both sides frontline units desperately dodged artillery. The axis had massed mortar units as well as a well-used Stuka, the allies had a veteran Calliope and Howitzer blasting anything that twitched.

Features the deaths of several veteran units, causing much angst and suffering at least on the allied side.  The calliope died rather dramatically with excellent timing on part of the axis forces. Durn useless smoke.

In the middle of the fight I suffered some control difficulties for a minute or two (RMB spazzed out, preventing me from issuing commands) which caused me to panic a bit as my vet rangers were exposed. Fortunately Wiking and Fulnc were gracious enough to halt while I got things together. Kudos guys.
