Why would I want to paradrop a mortar?  Also seems kinda redundant since Airborne get supply drops, and even so it's not a very good tier 3 imo.

I think the idea is you will be basically be able to paradrop an entire force.

You can do that anyway by just dropping an extra AB squad and supply drop.  Instead of taking Aerial Support Teams and dropping a 30.cal and Mortar team, I could take Raid for +6 pop cap, drop a 280 manpower Airborne Squad (along with supply drop) and get 600 manpower worth of support weapons from it as well as a bazooka.  It's redundant and since I don't have to use the +6 pop cap for support weapons Raid is just flat out better in every way.

Whoever came up with this idea made the airborne doctrine even less interesting according to me (expecially because it replaced the idea of antiinfantry airbornes, which was far cooler).
I can already paradrop half of my current units.

I think that whoever made the airborne tree(and reinforcement) is so far away from the essence of what airborne is that he's almost in uranus.

Airborne.... well, they're not in any way hallmarked by freaking support weapons - if anything, as an airborne company you want airborne, not freaking .30 cals. Sniper allmost kinda fits in, but definately not .30 cals and the horribly subpar M2 60 mm mortar.

As AB you need infantry stopping power.
.30 cals give you that to a certain extend.

about as much as a satchel charge. You drop it and there - you stopped infantry from going over it for 5 seconds! Even useful vs a nebelwerfer, if you catch one, or a repairing tank! Versatility ftw(less popcap too!)

The idea of BARs on airborne was even better than a satchel charge on the ground!

And I heard strafing runs do that even better! Zomg!

Imagine being able to paradrop (well, glider) a 75mm pack howitzer. But that's never going to happen.

That's a costly support team to be honest, unless you have all the PP in the world to spend.
And it wont give you a sniper rifle.

My vision for my frmer AB company was to be able to drop in early and setup blocking positions infront of my enemies to blast them while they left spawn protection. But you can't get a full Para company without alot of PP's invested so i  put it on hold for now

yes, you can. you got 6 AB in reserve, 3 more with AB reinforcement, and 2 more with the t4 doctrine choice (that isn't in yet). that's 11 AB squads even without counting those in supply. and they all should come with BARs and medkits once the t4 is implemented.  Shocked

Wait you can paradrop snipers behind the lines then?
That sounds great actually.

He's right, airbornes are very cheap (I ran 9 airbornes) in terms of pps in comparison to other elite infantry, expecially because due to retreat bonuses you won't really loose that many, actually this idea of a whole paradroppable force is stupid and boring according to me. Considering all the new and original stuff made for other doctrines.

57mm, antitank abs, satchel airbornes, mgs, and mortars are already paradroppable. I never ever felt the need of paradropped riflemanz/jeeps or snipers, think about the countdown of 10-30 seconds, it's just a waste risking to paradrop your stuff if it's going to get killed. Actually neither paradropped airbornes are that good, since the risks are as many as the adantages. Unless you want to promote an epic 24 pop platoon of engineers with the objective of tanktrapping the enemy's spawn.

So you think that paradroping snipers behind the enemy lines where the enemy can easily boom rush you at your first shot is a good idea? omg...

Well there is no availability increase in any doctrine, The launcher just hasn't been updated with what is going to be. Just like there is no more Tier 4 that gives BAR's(which is a shame as then my AB could do everything) So no, you can get 9 guys for 9pp and then each one after that is another 6.

you can still get AB reinforcements, which should make the first 9 free, can't you.

and get the BARs back in.  Wink

Spotting with a 520-200 fragile unit while you have a tier one called recon run? Erhm...

And brn4meplz, there are so many balancing ways not to make bars op on airbornes (such as not allowing both rr's and bars on the same unit) or making bars purchasable, wait fsjs have both antitank and antiinfantry capability. I hope you weren't the one that came up with that paradropping idea instead of bars.
