this map is terrible right now.

but no worries! the work wont be lost.
i just came back from my holiday and i found a way to get the stamping back to work: il just reinstall CoH to an old version.
the entire playable area thats in right now will become the town of the map. it will be bastion style.

alright, ive got the stamp to work and now i have two new map sizes.
one is abbe size, the other RTC size. ill change the river you see on the screenshots.
ofcourse if i take the abbe sized map il make it 3v3.
which one shall i use?

I'd go for something inbetween both of those, the edges of the bigger one are open/messy looking, and the small one really makes the fighting areas (especially around the river sides) seem far too tight.

Looks pretty good so far. River definitely needs changing like you said. As long as the sectors are EVEN... Also, not a lot of people are going to be able to check the forums during work hours, and some, like me, don't like to check them more than once a day. chill out  Tongue

The RTC sized one looks great. I’m a big fan of city map and I think you and the other mappers are doing a great job. People might be silent because these things are hard to comment on before playing on the map but that does not mean that we do not appreciate the work you guys put into it.

alright, the map is almost done.

id like to know what you guys think about it, i still have my doubts about how the territories are right now.
and about that river: i just keep it there becouse it looks pretty, but i think this map might be better without any water and just make it a 3v3. what you you think?

indeed left and right spawns.
without the water this is a 3v3, but with its really a 2v2. renember that all those buildings take alot of space.

1st testrun played!
it went like this:
R+ i spawn with 2 shermans and rape axis 1st callin. then axis spawns jagt....
2 shermans r killed, i throw half of my company in killing the jagt and get crazy becouse i cant find my sticky rifles. then the owner of jagt goes afk and i kill jagt while its repairing.
and we win the game while we lost so much to that jagt!

oh, and the map was fun. game goes quite like this: one army enters town, other army reacts and goes to enemy from other side of town. and the industrial part over the water was kinda ignored, but i think this will be used in defensive games for flanking manouvres

a downside could be the pathing, but its not that bad i guess.

if ppl want the replay, please say so.

if you provided more importance to side with the water (maybe 1 more point actually being the airstrip) it would be attacked more.

Otherwise, looks like an awesome map.

So i assume the water is impassable and the only way to get there is from the middle???  If so i can see Scorched Earth Insta Roadblocking that so the enemy cant get in on their side

ya if you made that water area having 1 extra zone or something, forcing it to be fought over or... you could lose.

might be an interesting play style.

NOT ALL MAPS NEED TO BE MADE EQUAL TO EACH OTHER.  Sad people dislike maps that cause a challenge for them, we need more maps that aren't 'perfect' for everyone.

yeah, its good for flanking that airstrip, but one side has theiir bridge much closer to their spawn.
you know what? il move the land a bit so its right in the middle, and then can the 2.1 version be in the autoupdater.

ive got a bit of a problem.

recently i formatted my computer, i didnt save vieux port becouse i tought it would be in the updater soon anyway, or that i could just download it again via filefront.
but it seems that the file dissapears after a while on filefront, and now theres no map anymore!

however, i have played the 2.1 version once with 3 others. i think they still have the file in their archives folder.
i dont renember their names, but if you know you have downloaded this map please contact me so you can send me the file.

renember: the file name is 4_Vieux_Port.sga    and it should be in C:\Program Files\THQ\Company of Heroes\EuropeInRuins\Archives

if youre not sure if you have the right version, just contact me anyways but the 2.1 version was the one with an extra piece of land to go over the water to the industry area. this part wasnt on the minimap in the game lobby.

if those 3 dont have the map anymore, im afraid it will be gone.......  Cry
