...and the magnetic head of doom. Hehe.

I have to date lost 7 Vet 2 Captains in the last few months, and I may have discovered a bug, or it may just be incredible bad luck.

1st - Lost to a shrek hit in the chest, insta-gib from full-health.
2nd - Lost to a vet 1 P4, shot to the head, insta gib from full health.
3rd - Lost to a shrek hit in the face, insta-gib from 90%(ish) health.
4th - Lost to a vet 2 P4, shot to the chest, insta gib from full health.
5th - Lost to a P4, shot to the chest, insta gib from full health.
6th - Lost to a Marder III shot to the torso, insta gib from full health.
(last game) 7th - Lost to a vet 2 P4 hit to the torso, insta gib from full health.

Now while I admit this list is both depressingly true (I made note after the first 3 times) and hilariously unfortunate (it has become somewhat of a running joke) it leads me to wonder if the Captain's Vet 2 reduced incoming accuracy bonus and Vet 1 reduced incoming damage modifier may be bugged.

Has anyone else had problems with tank shells and AT killing their Vet 2 Captains? Or am I just rather amusingly inept at keeping good officers alive?

I think they should have HP so they can take a P4 shot (but not more), I know that it is unrealistic but british officers die way too easy. (Do wehrmacht officers have more HP?)

in my own experience a full health captian always took 2 heat rounds from my p4 direct hit, 1 heat round nearly killing him but not fully as in you cant even see a health bar on him.

Typically, they should survive the first (direct) tank shell at vet 2 with a sliver of health left.
They are quite fragile, but awesome in cover (especially with a bren or stolen schreck).

I never lose them to P4 hits at any other vet level though. Only at Vet 2. Weird.

I constantly lose my captains, having to get in range of FOO does that.

Though it is annoyingly constant that they are 1 shot kills to P4, Paks, Marders and Shrecks. This wouldn't be a problem but it is usually the first shot that the Captain has aimed at him. It's also enough that Vet 2 Captains should be looked at for this.

I'm pretty sure they get a small health bonus somewhere along the lines, if your captain is in his own territory and has taken no damage, a vet 2 should survive 1 direct shot as Agga pointed out but this more than likely depends on if the tank has upgrades from a doctrine/veterancy or whatever.

tbh its the p4 mg that does that extra bit of damage before or just after he shoots you with his cannon.

The P4 cannon does 87.5 damage. With no modifier against heroic infantry armor (ie. captain)
At vet 1, a captain gets 0.8 received damage. Meaning 70 damage total.
I don't know about the defensive buffs a captain gives though.

Also, all MGs on the P4 have a 0.6 dmg modifier against Heroic armor.

If a bog standard P4 shouldn't do enough damage to 1 shot a captain then obviously something is very wrong because it happens all the time.

According to coh-stats, the captain has 60 health.
So unless the defensive buff he gives lowers the 70 dmg the cannon gives below 60 it's not gonna survive a direct hit from the cannon.
Still, you have the 2/3 machineguns to consider aswell.

Except no-one is complaining about machine guns, purely being 1 shot killed too often from full hp.

i always target captain or LTs with my (vet3) p4s but they never die to the 1st hit. i think thats just not true.. or these were heatround p4s

schreck sniping infantry is just incedibly bad luck i think.

I wasn't complaining, I just thought it was a bit of a funny coincidence that most of my Vet 2 losses are to AT weapons and P4 rounds.

It's not incredibly bad luck if it happens all the time, which is why they need checking. I was complaining! Tongue

I don't know how much damage it does when the round misses.
It's possible that the only time captains get gibbed (from full health) is due to a direct hit.

EDIT: I just noticed that the P4 gets an accuracy increase at vet 2, that might have to do with the amount of cases it gibs a cpt?

I don't know what it is but it seems rifles get increased incoming accuracy at vet 2.
vet 2 rifles vs volks and vet 1 rifles vs volks.. vet 2 fares worse.

That would still only explain the P4's and not the rest of the list of units that do this to captains.
