Ok, last night i spent a bit of time looking at Axis Doctrines... I was looking at Defensive.. problem is, i had a hard time choosing the units.. played a 1v1 with killers vet3 airborne, ya fun.. then a 2v2 with dasnoob, went a bit better, was still trying to feel out the units and what to use, still produced one of my best KD ratios for me, something like 77 kills to 50 loses..

anyways, was curious if any would like to logon as me, and maybe go thru my setup and make changes at will..

my axis unit is 916GrenadierReg.

Everyone has different ways to play. I loved my 2 tiger company yet im sure alot of people would fail with it, just like id fail with support spam. Gotta just make it around yourself Tongue

Never heard back from you on how that went though Tongue

I could check out your axis if you want.

But it's like Two says, everyone has their own company design pretty much.

Defensive company doesn't give you many direct combat benefits. You will be depending a lot on support weapons, especially in the early part of the game. If you can't manage support weapons well, then defensive company isn't for you, unless you're willing to work your way up all the way to allow you to branch out.

Once you work your way up to the higher ranks, defensive can branch out to:

Longevity - Fatherland defence +20% hp on all units, FTFL
Artillery - Large rockets + ready rounds
Omniscience - Extra range, good for support weapons and artillery
Officer - Officer, senior officer - direct combat bonus to troops in radius

General Wehr build

Buy 8 grens
Put 1 shrek, medikit and nade on 4 of them. Put lmgs on the other 4.
Buy 4 mgs
Buy 4 paks
Buy 4 volks
P4s and bikes for the rest of the money, a mortar or a nebel is always good to have.

Move up your mgs behind your grens at all times, win fights using supression. Recrew anything that gets killed (mgs and paks) with volks. If you encounter lots of 30 cals and at's call in your nebel or mortar. If you encounter brits call in a P4. Thats the basic idea.

Or you could try what I've been toying with using terror inspired by the volkssturm. (not my idea, dont worry you fartbreaths who would come in here and yell that was not your idea smokz)

1.  Make new company
2.  Buy 34 volks (infantry pool + reserve)
3.  Buy mp40s, faust and medikits on as many as you can
4.  Buy 8 stugs with mgs and repair (but not skirts!) for the

I gotta admit, on a fresh account that looks remarkably fun.

Methinks i'm gonna try that out, as i've been pondering on an axis account for a while now - Might as well try it in a fun way as i'm trying them for a change of pace.

Volkssturm tactics is awesome!
I just prefer to use a mix of grenadiers for more of an anti-infantry punch(grenades), and call it cheapskates ^^.

Fatherland defence is a powerful doctrine. It gives tanks a real nice health boost and basically FTFL lets you win any inf battle in your territory. I've seen single schreck squads beat crocs with it on.

Grenadier spam with terror is from hell as well. Get 4 geschutz for long range AT, get three bikes against a sniper and sink the rest of your manpower and munitions into endless hordes of buffed grenadiers. Its important to pick up the right doctrine abilities for this strategy.

RAWR. How can they be even close to as badass? I hear you saying that kind of company was badass, but I see so many advantages for terror over luftwaffe. Please enlighten us on how luftwaffe even with the badass passive buffs comes close to the kind of synergy and general pwntastic ownageballistic stuff terror whips up.

- solid in combat healing, crate just blows compared to medikits
- I dont see zeal keeping your guys dealing immense damage until they die
- I dont see machine gun shreks fending off American Brutus tank charges
- Faust is currently USELESS against t17s which will rape fallschirms in throves
- No double mine spam to deal with armor companies
- Grenadiers have way way more health even if they deal less damage
- Luftwaffe supression option is crappy, mg42 kicks ass
- Supression is important because smart players use this to turn fights to their advantage
- Waffle g43 is expensive
- No firestorm or V1 to take out howitzers (I FLOWERBOMB YOUR HOWIE HIYAA)

And most importantly

- Offensively geared buffs only work when the right unit type is attacking you! When 500 T17s attacks your waffle/fsj blob, they die in 1 hit each while the grenadiers munch up at least 2 hits depending on cover and zeal.

Terror is the true wehrmacht monster, neither infantry or tanks have an edge against them. It's such a good doctrine.

Its happened three wars now, I make a blitz first to cheese with supply drop stormtroopers, level it up to rank 8, look at my shitty stats, the fragile tank veterancy, the unacceptable state of the tiger and then I make a terror. The uber nebel, ubergrenadiers and general awesomeness of terror welcomes me back and I go on a mad streak of beating up people with terror's superior infantry, and once I reach ferocity I become untouchable.

Fallschirmjagers and luftwaffe infantry might not have alot of health, but thats not much of an issue since you wait for the enemy to come to you while sitting in ambush + green cover.

PE doesnt really need supression. Especially not luftwaffe, their infantry is strong enough. If the enemy comes too close you can still slow them to get out of bad situation where you get rushed.

Well you might still take it out, its more of a gamble now like offmaps should be but theres certainly not a 100% fail rate on FS/V1 against howies.

Luffe has good options and is a great doctrine, its just that Terror is the tattoed man in the bar drinking the beer and eating the glass of his mug when he's done.
