lol as cool as a real swordfight sounds, i like my arms being attached to my body (sarcasm included). But i just think the mentality of having a big, sharp piece of metal once designed for and in some places still used for, killing, thrusted at u(?) is a bit to much. i can take guns, and punch ups and stuff. but real swords? they get to me for some reason.

Well obviously you wouldn't have a swordfight with SHARP swords. That would be downright silly and frankly edging on manslaughter at the least.

Australia is Lochac. than find your local area, example mine was Rowany when i was going, they have a calendar on when newcomers can meet, its usually in a hall. SO yea you turn up there they'll show u how its done etc. You can make your own armor which is VERY VERY time consuming, months. or you can buy pre-built armor. the helm is most expensive at roughly $140. the rest is cheaper.

you will have to ask the men in charge. Archery sucks. very rarely is archery used in *War*. Stick with Heavy combat. which is what you seen in the video.

Good luck taking down a guy that's 10 metres below you and 200 metres ahead of you while you're safely atop a castle wall with a sword.

Or how about piercing a heavily armored knight head to sadle with one shot from a longbow?

How about mounting a light horse and killing enemy knights with their super-heavy armor slowing their horses down to a crawl?

no you took it the wrong way, read the rest what i wrote. Archery sucks BECAUSE ... Very rarely used in WAR*. im sure you know the meaning of War. exactly what the youtube video i posted up is.

Well, duh - noone wants to lose an eye, which is why archery is only for shooting at targets nowadays.

lol its impossible to lose an eye in war. the head of the arrow is big piece of *_ _ _ *?? its like a plunger shaped arrow head but it does not have a suction cap. smaller than your fist.

Ive actually done this once. Thought i should at least try it so I know what im making fun of.

Its not that bad at all really, provided your in a secluded location, or you have absolutely no self conscious issues.

The ppl I played with used mages, and had home made fireballs, which I thought was kind of silly since they were made out of footballs and no one but me was able to throw them accurately. Needless to say, if I had enough footballs in one game, I killed the entire other team.

there was archery too, but the bow strength was low enough that you catch the arrows in flight if you were paying attention.

And spears are OP b/c they make em light and weight is not an issue. Battle axes are also bullshit cause you can whip them around like they're made of feathers, and it is not an accurate representation of fighting with a battle axe at all.

It's a matter of preference, demon.

I for one have always loved shooting of all kinds : skeet, target, airsoft, archery, etc. so for me archery would be a great deal of fun.

Thats fine dont get me wrong, i would love to do archery, alot of us would, nothing bad about shooting someone in the head and lmao without them being able to do anything to you. but the point i was trying to make out is this. Archery is rarely used in wars. Heavy combat has 1v1. 2v2. 3v3. 4v4 W/e training every week. Than comes to wars. Plus you have more people to fight with, train with etc. Most of the time archery wasnt really prohibited in some events. You can train whenever you want kind of thing, its the amount of time you can spend doing the activity.

Spend alot of time to get good in archery and you are faced with the dilemma that you can only shoot archery targets until every 3 or 6 months , depending on location eg country. and it only last hour. so my point is. get good in heavy. and have archery a little thing to do when you get used to the setup and you get to know people.

Lucky for me i get trained by one of the best in australia, pure luck that he was my History teacher. (like he is the allocated trainer of my state and one of the best in australia)

Groundfire im guessing your referring to LAIRE right. cuz i kno theres no such thing as Magic in SCA haha. if so good for you, i cant get into that kind of stuff personally.

sry im not trying to pick, im just trying to give helpful advice, if you try dont get your hopes up to be a dedicated archer because of the reasons above.
