Great! They are going to the right direction atleast. Even though it will take forever to finish a game, it will be great for patient players who like strategy.

Though i´m not really fond in imperial age. RTW and M:2TW is still more fun (my opinion ofc).

Holy f*&k this is the ultimate awesomeness! I am so sick of playing the campaign against AI. No matter what difficulty I easily manage to sack France in the first two turns and that pretty much wins the game for me. I would love to play against a human being kinda like Axis and Allies.

I don't know if anyone understands just how excited I am about the possibility about campaign multiplayer. this is the closest thing to axis and allies for me so I'm nuts.

Took them far too long, and by far too many games to get this sorted.

This was posted, by me, I think, though that may have been elsewhere. Regardless, always a good reminder. Of note, Napoleon Total War will have a fully implemented version of this when it releases complete with many tweaks (especially to faction AI, apparently, who are now no longer braindead tardmuffins! Hooray!)

You would prefer to afk 40 minutes every time somebody has a battle (1 or more times per turn?)

We are serious about enforcing this, and I am sure you all want to be able to have your balance thought considered by the development team with some biased, sensationalist coming into your thread and ruining it.

1vs1 with or against a friend sounds perfect, it takes a long time to finish even a single player game. :]

So, anyone up for a campaign of this? I reckon we could do 2-4 hours a week with time-limited turns, and get through a short (50 year) campaign in about 5-8 weeks.

Alternately, we could play it more than once a week, depending on people's availability and relative time zones to me (GMT) and get it done faster.

What say you?

Moving on to Napoleon, which is about a thousand times less broken in every way.

I should really try E:TW again now that i have my extra ram working, see if it helps. It's so big to download through steam to see if it works better.

Shogun is still my favorite though.

Well, obviously ignoring game balance (because let's be honest Total War isn't competetively balanced to begin with), the game is fairly buggy, the unit responsiveness is twitchy, it tends to crash (especially surrounding naval engagements) and there are of course numerous interface glitches like the Philosophy tree and the Industrial tree for research having their icons swapped.

Plus cavalry sucks. It's like a game of rock paper scissors where scissors sucks too bad at countering paper :p

Also, once you experience some mechanics of Napoleon you won't want to go back - like the reinforcements system. No longer can you reinforce magically to full complement in hostile territory, or march your armies around in the far north without losses from attrition. The zones of control are better, the graphics are better (and in fact less challenging on hardware I've found, which was surprising!), really it's just better than Empire. Every aspect has really been polished from the strategic map to making the units on the battlefield feel more balanced and useful between each other (like cavalry that can, GASP, KILL SKIRMISHERS BEFORE DYING? :O!?!?!?), updated graphical effects (though my army still appears to suffer from Clone Soldier syndrome the uniform variety is nice as well as no more retarded looking patched up citizen militia), detailed campaign settings... the one thing that I wish it had was a larger world in the campaign to choose from, but what Napoleon does it does very well and I'm honestly not sure I could go back to Empire from all the little changes.
