Agreed.

The Xbox 360 is one of the sole reasons why there is such strong game development these days with plenty of new IPs and games coming out every couple of months. Without the consoles, who knows what we would have these days; its the competition between the consoles that drives the industry forward; there is little development platform competition in the PC market.

I just hope the combat system is tweaked from the last game.

The skill progression just didn't work right and I found all classes played much the same despite having what should have been very different abilities on paper.

*face palm*

I never said consoles were better than a PC for gaming, nor did I say the PC is better for gaming over consoles. It's moot point because different people prefer different things. Personally, I prefer playing 3rd Person Action Games and RPGs on a console because the controller just feels more attuned to the character on screen then a mouse & keyboard (growing up with the likes of Zelda and Mario). That is one of the reasons I'm purchasing ME2 for my 360 over a PC; because the controller enables me to sit a good distance away from my screen and relax on my couch or bed, if I was using a keyboard & mouse I wouldn't be as comfortable.

You can't deny without the presence of Consoles capable of producing PC level of graphics that it has increased the number of incredible games coming out over the last generation. Without the hugely profitable console market, you most likely wouldn't see games like Mass Effect being produced.

no u   , 90's was the glory of games , first rtses , first fpses , c64 , amiga , pc , new consoles (and alot of them) . every game was offering something new and never seen before. devs consisted of small teams that were not payed gazillions of $$$ to bring out bugged game that needed 23.3033333 v of patch to get to working stable.

today its just all about  $$$$$

I agree. Gaming wasn't a huge business back then, they made games cuz they loved games. There are a few companies out there like that, Bioware is one of them but a lot of them are just big business and are game churning machines and  just poop out lots of crap loaded with pretty pixels.

the hardware is just better than the 90's, but the minds were a lot better then.

eh, true. i dont think it sux i just think i'ts lacking in some areas but it's engaging and that's what sells.

Me2 is supposed to be a lot better combat and story wise. I think the story will be a lot deeper than before.

Nostalgia does that to people. Makes them think 'everything was better in the good old days'.

Seriously; go back and play some of the first type games and you'll realise that they weren't as good as you thought they were. Have you tried playing Doom without mouse support after using a mouse in FPS games for the past decade? Seriously it takes a while to get used to the controls, then the graphics.

Quake 3 was the best game I've ever played........but playing it now is awful.

NHL 98 was an amazing hockey game........now it's awful.

It's one thing saying that was the golden age of gaming... but it was still in its infancy.
