I don't want any DEVs to misunderstand me in this message because I'm not being a bitch and yelling at them to hurry up. With the press release, (which is awesome btw gj Killer) and the new players showing up, I thought it would be a good idea to give a blurry estimate on when the doctrines would return to EIR. Something a little bit more enlightening then "after the tournament."

Also I hope you wouldn't mind sharing some information as to what we are to expect from the doctrines themselves. Are they going to be similar to the older ones where you have health buffs, special abilities, and bonuses like extra shots for the calliope? Or are the doctrines going to be less emphasized? I think it would help a lot of people (including myself) relax a little bit about the doctrine development.

Now bear makes his own funny thread. It's unsurprisingly not funny.

You're going to have to sit back, wait, and not worry one bit. The less you think about it the more happy you'll be when you're surprised they gave some info =)

because we get information on a "when it's ready" basis here =P

Lol, I'm ,*mainly*, just the guy who cracks the whip, you should thank BoldasLove, Groundfire, Elitegren and Baine for that.

There'll be another press release right before they're released  probably.

Its a T4 David, so it actually looks a litlle underwhelming compared to other T4s we've seen in the past.

In any case, it would take an Axis player to go inf heavy in order to take advantage of this ability, and my impression is that most would rather go super heavy tank instead.

some stackers would do it. you get a 3v3 with 2 players heavy on armor and 1 on inf and you got your self a super stack team  Grin

If Im reading it right, it just seems to grant cloak in green cover to all inf units in friendly territory.  It doesnt, however, grant a damage bonus like PIATs get.  As a T4 for a def co it makes sense, we'll see how it works in-game "when the tourney is over".

1) It's defensive doctrine (note the senior officers T3).
2) Super Heavy Tank companies generally result in high numbers of infantry due to low manpower consumption in relation to the fuel consumed. It's the reason why double pershings is so often seen nowadays - it allows for 25-35 roflmen to go with that.

Right Myst, so points one and two are exclusive, you cant have this T4 and also have super heavies.  So in order to maximize this T4 you have to run a def co with a lot of infantry, something that is possible, but doesnt sound very scary.

Unless your suggesting that one player can have this T4 and grant this buff to his teammates, now that would hurt.

*shrug*

I wonder what you'd say to a 3x Panther + 25 MP40/faust volks coy, or to a 6 P4 + LMG/Dshrek gren coy... You don't need to make your army vast to make it effective with the T4 - high cost/high yield units would work just as good.

I'd give more ideas on what else you could use in that coy, but I signed on my very soul that I wouldn't reveal anything that's not already been revealed :p.

My first thought would be those are both gimmick companies.

In the first case, all your AT would be the panthers and the fausts, no ATGs, and no support weapons.  In practice, well microed T17s and Stags would love you, panthers would have a hell of a time catching them and the inf would get tore up.

The P4x6 build with shrek/LMG grens would again mean no support weapons or officers.  Im not sure how many gren squds you could field like that, so your capping power would be crap even if you had vanilla volk squads for that purpose.

In any case, I dont see why someone would build a def co with either of these builds, espescially if they are thinking in terms of maximizing this T4.  In the panther build, you have the volks to take advantage of the T4 but without support (panthers blow as AI vehichles) they are paper tigers.  And, in the P4 build you would really be better off going with a doc that would buff those P4s, rather than using the P4s as support for buffed grens.

I don't know why you need to think so much about it.... just put a tank, or a mortar or an un-cloaked sniper, let them pick the bait, and then BAM, pwned by cloaked grens/volks/kchs.

agreed
Seems like cloaked volks would actually be op due to cost but oh well I'm sure you guys have plenty of counters for that.
