Make doctrines free, everyone just wants to fuck around with new units/combos now since everyone has tried every doctrine atleast once now.
Would also help towards fixing OP combos.

Didn't this happen just before Christmas, and didn't like... 50%+ of players stop playing just because of it?

lol no, that was their reason for not doing it before christmas, and the time that they lost that many players was cos it was for months without a patch.

So basically...Half the community is crazy and just wants to stomp, the other half wants to play the game and have fun rather than grind.
The solution is in the middle, Moar xp and Moar pp.
Also there should be level raparound so when you get to level 9 if you play to much you go to level 1. Like the world globes.

This is true. If World of Warcraft gave everyone level 80 accounts you would see a huge decline in playerbase just as well. We'll be reducing the grind though.

Main problem is people get 'bored' with their companies by the time they hit the t4 awesomeness. The war is for people who don't play that much (enough time to level up 1 account) but can still have fun because they have something to work for. The people that complain about the war system usually level up 1 of each faction or different doctrines of companies. Or just become good friends with a dev and have them give you a company

Or just become good friends with a dev and have them give you a company I'm not sure where you get this but test accounts (which is what they are) are only handed out to balance advisors to help us nail potential balance issues with the doctrines. Either way, after the reset we will probably have a period of reduced grind so everyone can extensively test all doctrines for us. We will not be handing out test accounts anymore then. In addition, when the launcher rework comes in multiple profiles can be tied to one account and we might have some sort of 'global' XP system so you don't have to grind from level 1 every time you want to try a new faction or doctrine build.

Saying that half of the playerbase left around Christmas time would only be applicable if this was a controlled scenario - but it's not, other factors changed during that time so you can't just say that was the reason. I think the #1 is that doctrines were mostly gone, with only basic unlocks available.
I really can't think of why you would leave because of having more freedom with your company in a shorter amount of time... the only way I will accept I'm wrong in this argument, would either to be to implement this change and this change alone, and see how many people leave and ask them why they left, OR get a few people (at least 5) to honestly say they would leave the game if you didn't have to unlock doctrines.
I know I would certainly have had a lot more fun with the time I played EiRR if I had the ability to choose my doctrine path right from the start. I never got to use any ability past the t2s, because I never played enough.
It would have been nice but honestly I don't give two shits now since I stopped playing. But I like arguing. Arguing is still fun.

Facts are Facts Stahl. No grind = Less players. Factors of all games. Learn to argue. "Facts are facts" is not an argument. "This is a fact because x, y, z" is an argument. Try again when you can prove no grind = less players. Until then, I can do the exact same thing as you! Facts are facts. Grind = Less players. Factor of all games.

Having a grind provides a goal for players to work towards. It makes players come back again in the persuit of leveling the peak level, unlocking everything there is to unlock, and having something to show for it after all the time spent getting there.
Without a grind and goal, players wouldn't have the same desire as they would otherwise. Sure, they would still play because it's a game and they want to have fun, but once you hit the level cap - there is no more progression.
It doesn't affect everyone, as some people wouldn't care either way. However, for the generally public, the grind brings them back.
PS. A classic example is WoW. Imagine starting new characters at level 80, in the best gear, with all unlocks. Sure, you can do dungeons/raids until you turn blue in the face, but I bet you everyone would be bored in a week due to lack of progression and lack of things to purchase/earn. Top guilds that burn through content get bored quickly after achieveing everything, and sometimes even stop playing until new content is available. PPS. I don't play WoW, haven't for several years.
