So, i was bored and started to shoot around "terrorfying" doctrine abilities with computer, and then remember a small mod that allowed you to garrison snipers in haystacks and large trees. I think it would be a nice nifty little T2 if terror snipers could garrison and fire out of haystacks/trees/etc, hidden from sight picking off troops that stray too close. I was thinking that.... 1st shot fired from garrisoned position = only sound, no tracer, no notification 2nd shot = sound, tracer, no notification 3rd shot = all normal sniper cues identifying his position. Just the thought of a constantly relocating sniper that you wont fully be able to trace untill the 3rd shot would be just awesome. Discuss. http://forums.relicnews.com/showthread.php?t=220704

Sounds cool but it could be OP. I would really hate to play against sniper spam again.

Techinicly this would make it a building, so either my sniper is no longer cloaked, or it is and there is a red spot on minimap showing the exact one it is. 4. "Hanz! Watch ze driving! *BOOSH* *Crrraacck* great you ran over ze damn haystack, I wonder what ze cracking sound was tho!"

1. idk im not an RGD guy 2. then you give away your position and get countersniped or jeep rushed 3. it counts as a building, so no mini map no tac map markings 4. again another risk for a potentially powerful ability. You could get squashed. Technically it's a building, and if the building comes down, you lose the occupants. Could you imagine tho? I forsee a systimatic effort to landscape the battlefield so snipers have no where valuable to hide. Deff. has a 10 on the terror scale tbh.

I dont know about this one. I am pretty sure I heard that another mod had cloakable units in buildings but they popped up on minimap even when cloaked.

Yup. I dont know about this one. I am pretty sure I heard that another mod had cloakable units in buildings but they popped up on minimap even when cloaked.
Yea but i'd love to still to have units in buildings not be identified right away. It'd be nice to be able to put an engine in a building or pio and have the other player still approach it cautiously cuz they dont know what it is. basically the unit is cloaking in garrison cover also, the sniper in haystack thing is the haystack convered into a building and any infantry unit within the pop limit could get into it, same with trees.

It's not i think it's an engine thing,which none of us can change(I think) I saw a thread about that a while ago on Relic...like 2-3 years ago.

It's possible, but not worth the effort it takes to code. Nobody made a 100% working version yet, and I doubt anyone ever will.

Spot , Fire , Maneuver Concept: Part of your unit shoots at the enemy with enough firepower to make them keep their heads down. This is known as suppressive fire or (in the movies) as covering fire.
