Use units that are low pop but high firepower to support it. Flamethrower pioneers come to mind.

thanks for offering him advice guys. He wants to use a KT start, advise him against it but actually reply to his post.
Anyway, i agree kt's are best used late game and the same goes for a pershing but i used to use a pershing start very effectively.
So, lets do the math,
KT = 18 pop
Pop left over for start = 7
You can do...
hmg + mortar
hmg + pak
kch + flame pio - make sure u put faust on kch and med kits on both to up the longevity and maybe a mine for the pio
2x lmg gren (if u got it) + flame pio, better range than kch but no faust so no extra at ability unless u get a mine
volks + flame pio (fausts, slow mine and maybe smg)
Nebel - not really recommended unless you're attacking with a KT
kch/gren/volks + swimwagen - for sight and AI Firepower
pak/mortar + bike
Puma
Oak Leaf KCH
Sniper
That's all the combos i can think of. I think your best bet is the kch + flame pio.
Or 3 flame pios (6 pop) all with mines and med kits, toasty! and they're great if the american player is airborne or infantry as fire toasts them.

I would go with:
x2 flame pios, with medkits and mines
MG42
King tiger
suppression, mines to slow down rushing vehicles, flamethrowers to flank/deal with support weapons..should work just fine

When Mysthalin was running volks spam I start with a KT and a sniper for a total of 25 pop
Basically KT start can work but you really need to co-ordinate it with your teammate beforehand to make sure they start with enough inf and supporting AT.

Don't use KT at start, it's way to slow and if you get stickied - the allies will chase you with AT guns or airborn, whatever..
And instead of focusing in the progress - you focus on protecting the KT to safety or retreat off-map.

KT core is pushing it, this is not viable in most cases. It can do a lot of damage and beat its chest but after the initial shock/surprise it will be capped around or disabled.
Me, I remember the KT getting the most kills/bang4buck in games where it would sit back and draw artillery and just cruising up whenever something was stupid enough to show itself. It does have 45 range after all.

it's beast in a 2v2 tbh because there's just no way u can field enuff at with only 50 total pop and fight off anything else around it, its hard as heck

Should be careful about underestimating the usefulness of a King Tiger and how aggressive you can be with it. You can push it up to max or medium range constantly and its armor will protect it from just about anything. The only unit you really have to fear as a KT is a firefly, and when it pulls up to throw a shot downrange and stops for accuracy if you're moving forward you can tend to get a countershot in (albeit on the move). Between that and a pak you're pretty much set. Stickybombs are annoying but really not that hard to avoid and not the end of the world if you don't, so long as the tank can still move.
Learning and pushing the tolerances of your super tank is very important otherwise you'll never get the cost back from it when it limps off field with 3 infantry kills because it was too puss to fight anything.
