Firesparks, yet again - so you take on the MG42 with carbines, garands and BARs at long range? How is that in any way good tactics, considering the short duration of fire-up and extremely poor DPS of all those weapons at long range? If you want to take out the MG42 with airborne - you'll have to charge just the same way as you would with rangers.
The AB RR doesn't have to kill the mg42 at long range. One of the main Mg42's function is to protect the long range oriented wehr unit from the close range US units (classic example being volks and rifles).

The mg42 can't do the job effectively against AB because fire up allow the ab to ignore suppression and its durable allow it to absorb a good amount of bullets. The mg42 would still kill the ab at close range, but the AB doesn't need to get close to kill with the RR.

(ab rifle have less long range firepower but the example still work to an extent.

With sufficient thrust, pigs fly just fine. However, this is not necessarily a good idea. It is hard to be sure where they are going to land, and it could be dangerous sitting under them as they fly overhead. -- RFC 1925

wait so, are we to understand that fireup in this context is being used in any other situation than as an escape from certain death?

Firing up past a machinegun does nothing but leave the AB squad exhausted and in hostile territory, prey to any AI squads in the area.

Rarely does this pay off. you'll just end up losing more AB squads then you would otherwise.

tbh, fire up may negate suppression, but if the AB squads fire up to escape from the fight then the machinegun did its job by forcing the enemy not to engage. He wont be able to do that again for awhile. Take that advantage and press your attack home.

If the AB does fire up past your defenses, and you know this is a common thing, you owe it to yourself to have forsight to make him pay for it.
2 thro away flme pios is morethen enough defense to beat off most AB attacks.

His point is that RRs can gib the MG42 gun at long range, we've been trough that on the private forums already, the only possible fix would be to increase its scatter.

Nah, just setting the projectile type not to clip. Gamesguy can do it pretty damn fast.

The tank shell would gib the crew anyhow... And I'm pretty sure splash damage would still apply to the MG even without a direct hit, if the round hit the guy manning the gun.

Only thing it would really cause problems for tank-wise would be... M10's?

But that's not exactly supposed to be sniping off MG42's anyhow lol.

Only issue I could see is if setting the MG42 not to clip, causes the crew not to clip either. Then it's a problem.

I mean I know Obama was the first one in EiR to get a card. and tbfh the Race card is pretty OP. but Romney has the K.K.K., those guys seem to camo anywhere. So OP units from both sides.
At the end of the day, however, stormtroopers finally got the anal invasion with a cactus they have richly deserved for years.

The gun itself is a separate entity, so you can change the gun to not clip and leave the men normal.

I think dodging tank shells is a little over the top, but im all in favor of doing the clipping change for RRs. Seems like a very reasonable fix.

Thing is, we can't seperate the RRs from the tank shells, unless gamesguy went ahead and made a new projectyle type. Which will take quite some time and be boring.

It would be the MG42 itself dodging the tank shell...

The crew would still be liable to swallow a tank round nicely.

Except that infantry already dodge missed tank shots anyway, so nothing would change Smiley.

even though losing your mg42 to some kind of AT weapon once in a while is annoying, whats even more annoying is if any weapon fails to destroy a unmanned hmg. be careful if u change something.
