Anyway, Eirmod what are you changing for the rework?
Unlocked due to new info requested.
The new warmap will basically do away with the Sector units and commanding those units.
It was over and above what was required - and would work well for another game/system, but not for what we are going to do.
So, each sector now has Defence points and Support points, and a Defence modifier.
For example:
Lille
5000 Defence points
100% Defence modifier
2000 Support points
You can reduce the defence points of a sector that you attack (and win), or increase them by defending said sector.
Support points are used for every attack, and every defend action - so will be required to choose the support option from time to time.
Support will also grant 'bonus' attack points for a successful battle if you have neighbouring sectors that can also reach your target sector (Subtracting support from those sectors, and adding to your attack value for that battle).
Once a sector reaches 0 defence points, the sector is taken over, and now in the enemies hands (with a minor buff of say 10% of what the normal defence would be, so 500 in this example).
Each sector held, provides MP, MU, FU or a warmap mechanic bonus. Hold more of these than the enemy for a bonus in resources for your side. This will replace the Advantages screen.
This is the basic premise for the Beta of the warmap.
Further enhancements after beta release will contain:
- Airports to allow Airborne and Luftwaffe to attack 2 sectors away (or, defend)
- Factories which produce 'units' which buff either Attack, Support or Defend actions (like, an infantry unit which provides +5% Defence and +5 Support per unit stationed in sector)
- Doctrine progression AND Tech progression (To be confirmed by SDT)
- Warmap mechanic cards
I hope this answers your question, and, once our internal alpha is released, I will (or Groundfire will) update the main post with screenshots
