People interested in small tournament after doctrine rework?
Nice for testing.
In future also nice for publicity.

This tournament would be to show off the mod. Comparing to other tournaments like GR.org, full 2vs2 untill the end would be a mere repetition.
We should know how many people would like to play. Take the players preferences on what kind of match they would like to play. A poll for 1vs1 2vs2 3vs3 and 4vs4 ladders for instance.
There are realy nice maps now. I play-tested one and it was good fun. Take the players to battle and show mod features like reinforcements.
There is a lot of potential. Many players playing every day already. A player should be allowed to play 1vs1 and enter one other team to play against another team.
Make a tournament banner to give to winners. One player could become winner in two ladders. This post stays here to catch developers interest.
If it does not catch interest in organising, I would like to start one tournament because I like to play EiR:R. Everyone who would like to participate or organize the event leave notice here.

We'll probably host a tournament somewhere down the road, after the doctrine rework is completed.

I'm up for a community-run tournament right after the first few docs get put in.

k, if you guys run it. No one has the schedule to facilitate a competitive torney. With different time zones, a large majority of our base spread over the world, we wont be able to "god clock" it cause someone will alway have to play at 3 or 4 in the morning. Like deadbolt said, he got to the finals (through 3 rounds) on DQs. My team got to the 3rd round on a DQ. Tournies are very hard to do here.

Problem with last tourny was really just that we spread it over a couple of weeks or more. If like with GR tournaments, we require all games to be played one evening (max a second one for the final games) on a certain weekend it should be fine.
People will know in advance what time they need to be on to play their game and they know they'll need to keep several hours free.
This way you'll only get people signing up who can actually make it.

5 PM GMT Saturday. A perfectly valid "god time" during which most people should be able to play unless they work weekends.

Which is something like 9 to 12 AM in North America, which are common work hours even on Saturdays but otherwise not too bad, and in the middle of the night in Asia and Australia. Not exactly god time.

Which is why I said Saturday. There is a much higher chance people will not work on a Saturday than that they will not work on a Tuesday, for instance.
Yes, it will be late in Australia and Asia - roughly midnight by my calculations - but it being a saturday game they do not have to wake up early in the morning for work the next day (not to mention the fact Ausies and Asians generally stay up late to play due to the demographic of EiRR).

It won't be possible to please all timezones I'm afraid, but something like 5pm GMT on a saturday does seem like a fair compromise.

I got an idea. Make an unofficial friendly competition series where the EIR:R community could openly participate. The objective, to make interesting games that catch other players attention and strenghthen the EIR:R community itself.
I like the idea of fixing a date and concentrate the games on that day. It could work as a more frequent competition, too.
Less staff needed: One artist to make small banner for participants and winners, another to manage ladders. Commentator and shoutcaster places open for volunteers, if any. But not realy important.
Then, like Unkn0nw said, there could be a more serious, full featured "official" tournament. Perhaps even announced in Relic news page. An unofficial EIR:R tourney help promote the mod, bring good fun and also help developers to make future official tourneys.
What do you think?

Btw, 101stgg is that Hogans Heros as your little image thingy....because if so your awesome.
I could see Relic going for that also, because they have promoted other mods on the front page before or the mods tournaments.

Shit I'm pretty sure you could offer the guy a cup of coffee and he'd try to kill you with the mug if you forgot sugar.
That's like offering Beer to fuck the fat chick. It will work for a while, but it's not gonna last. Not only that, but there is zero motivation for the Fat chick to loose weight.
Why don't you collect up your love beads and potpourri and find something constructive to do.

3v3 or 4v4?
2v2 is too gamey.

3vs3 sounds like it would be too much of a hassle getting everyone together.
