Commando Radio Triangulation Man

Can anyone tell me how to properly use this unit? Am I supposed to drop 2 of them in random places so they can scout the area? They have a terrible range for Line of Sight, unable to see a Marder 3 unless its standing right next to it. Thanks in advance.

How did you come to the idea to use him to scout? He is used to plant the triangulation, that's all.
