I wonder why the old repair system was dropped ?  was it due to spam repair?

Now that we have caps we could just limit the number of engies/pios

also it kind of sucked only some doctrines had repair stations. plus some vehicles would just never die. at least we have limits on the repairs now.

The old repair system should come back as a tier 4 or 3 in some extend. PE gets BergeTiger that can infinite repair if it finds wrecks to salvage

nah, it's good this way :shrivers: Piat sapper + churchill croc blobs

Image just seeing a churchill croc + piat sappers, that's it. that's what it was like b4 the change.

or tiger + flame pios

pershing + flame engies

oh and i think it benefitted pe the most, cuz they usually got the shaft in the repair part, i dont think pz grens could repair at first.

That could easly be avoided by disabling repair when upgrades like flamethrowers are bought

I liked the old repair system, it encouraged people to actually kill tanks rather than damage them enough and hope the other guy takes it off. That and it added an extra incentive to push towards their back lines to kill the repair bunkers and there are few things more satisfying than ab dropping a repair site, killing the tanks and satchelling the repair bunkers

It encourages even more to find the most durable tank you can find, and then build a base defending it and just slowly attrition the enemy barely advancing at all. Now immagine both sides doing that, 1 persh and 1 tiger just staring at each other, growling.

And if you don't stick to the way everyone else plays and instead rush, you will get utterly assraped.

Well, that was when there were no pool costs and people would have like 20 AB so using one to satchel a bunker wasn't a waste but now it is. Although there's still spam in EIR, i think it's toend waaaay down from the 50 rifle, days of nothin but nades n stickies and if you wasted a rifleman goin after a tank with a sticky it wasn't as big of a deal as it is now.

I think the original repair system could work if you just changed it a bit, you could have a timed ability when you can repair with one of your engineers or heavily reduced repair time. It would make for an interesting gamemode.

That only happened if both sides were having a bad game. Rushing was a situational and team tactic as it is now but certainly slow pushing and seizing the advantage were more important.

Tbf, limiting the amount of units repairing a single unit vehicle would go a long way.

Having a blob of 4 engies or pios repairing at breakneck speed is a bit ridiculous. If only 1-2 units can repair a vehicle at once, then you have to be careful with when and where you repair.

I mean I know Obama was the first one in EiR to get a card. and tbfh the Race card is pretty OP. but Romney has the K.K.K., those guys seem to camo anywhere. So OP units from both sides.
At the end of the day, however, stormtroopers finally got the anal invasion with a cactus they have richly deserved for years.

And then the artillery rains down on your static lines.

A nigh impenetrable defence doesn't have to be static, there's something called elastic defence.

The old system would not work with this one, All units were cheaper overall in Pop cap and cost, and the overal company spending limit was higher.

But then again i do think armor and light vehicles tended to cost more overall, Which compesated for the repair sytem.

More infantry, Less vehicles, Less at overall and more inf on inf fighting.

Now to bring the old system back, All armor would have to increase in value and infantry decrease because the effectiveness of the armor based units would go up 10 fold.

that is how it was. you had repair bunkers for terror and blitz, and you could only repair with one unit at a time (unless you wanted to cheat and then get banned or your account wiped) but with a repair bunker you could have the repair bunker repairing and a unit repairing. armor got engs with a T1 or T2 that repaired faster and vet 3 engs repaired even faster.

it would be far too much work to try to revert back to the old system in an efficient way. though i do agree i miss dropping AB in the back and RRing vehicles and satcheling bunkers. Ah a time when it was very useful dropping AB behind the lines! Also I would want old OBM back, that was the best!

I can't beleive nobody thought of this:

Take the system that was used in Battle of the Bulge mod: a dedicated repair unit, with a 1 hardcap. For WM and US, it costed 200 mp, 50 mun, 40 fuel; it granted a single Opel Blitz/GMWC truck with a 3-man Pio/Engie in it; armed with a single Pioneer MP40 and 2 Lugers, or Engineer M3 and 2 .45s. It was the only unit that could repair buildings or vehicles; add that to EiR and put a 5-8 pop occupance on it. You could only afford to have 1 out per team of 3-4 players or lose too much fighting/capping ability, and it could be given Rudimentary Repair to avoid ub3r repairing everything.
