Flame engineers? Riiiiiight. You really don't play vcoh, do you?

+1

especially because he dont know that m8s have like ACs just a small timeframe where its really effective

and he really need to outplay his opponents for a "m8 horde"

m8 rushes are the epitome of fail.

Any player above lvl 10 will already have 4-5 mines down and will be expecting it due to lack of BARs. It's one of those strats that only works if you're already grossly winning.

Now that I has zoom mod for CoH games are so much easier. I could see myself getting to top 20 or so now so it should be a fun trip Tongue.

Ah COH:O, I remember spamming engineers with RIfles, teching up to a Croc and still losing. But having tons of lulz as my Engineers with Flamethrowers and Crocs burned the living shit out of everything.

Isn't Zoom Mod technically cheating?

Isn't Zoom Mod technically cheating?

If it was illegal, they would have checks on every camera.lua and RelicCoH.module file before opening the game. And it's on Relicnews.com Tongue

For those who want:
http://forums.relicnews.com/showthread.php?174773-Guide-to-install-the-Zoom-Out-Mod

It's so freaking good. I don't lose squads anymore unless I have a horrible error in judgement! You can also be a better teammate and have whole map awareness. The only downside is that it takes a while to learn how to get the proper CoH angle, only zoomed out. This mod starts every game top-down, not isometric, so you have to use alt a lot more to get the camera angle right.

After the luxury of EIRR there's no way in hell i'm going back to vcoh epic zoom. I don't care what riflemen look like, i've probably stared at them for like 500 hours already!

It's been around for six years. Like I said before, if they were really against it, they would have put stopgaps/checks in place. Relic maintain such high protection over their products. Hell, if I heard correctly, didn't EF have to send relic an e-mail with code to get them to allow a new faction for a modification to work on their system?

Just because it's not in the original game doesn't make it "illegal".

They should have a problem with it to be honest, it gives you an unfair advantage over players not using it. There's no arguing that. But CoH has never been a serious competitive game anyway, so Relic doesn't care all that much.

It's better than so called "competitive" games, players in SC2 don't have to account for randomness, they just turn into robots that are like "build this", "send x unit to counter y unit", "x unit will take 4.2 seconds to kill y unit".

Then again, I have a massive bias against SC2 so.. yeah :p

Games with random elements don't make for good competitive games though. I share your sentiment towards SC2, but I can understand why it's so popular.

What they really should have done is improved the zoom themselves in a patch.

I remember people saying Relic was also against it, so I was curious where you read it.
I did some searching and this is what I found.
It pretty much states gr and relic are both against it, from 2010.

In another gr topic from 2007 I found Unkn0wn saying this:
'I don't see how this is cheating. Sure it's altering game content but as long as it does not give the user an immediate advantage it shouldn't be considered as a "cheat".'

'(Not being on the standard camera perspective certainly has some downsides too)'

Yea, because in 4 years time people can't change opinion, right? Troll. Zoommod was relatively new back then, little did I know, apparently.

Once you get to high tiers of play, zoom mod won't save you if you suck anyway. It's only an aid at even levels of competition.

That said, it IS cheating.
