Does everyone forget BF: V? god damn that one was so much fun! VC being able to make spawn points that they can put anywhere, chinooks grabbing supplies and bringing them different places. pungi traps, bouncing betties, there were some awesome mods for it too!

BF1942 was simply groundbreaking and man it was a ton of fun.
BF:V was a great next step and put us in an environment that i feel didn't get played enough.
BF2 was a great new step, with unlocking stuff and the new environment was great and the engine they used was such a big step. All the expansions that came out I feel were pretty lack luster, new maps and weapons that simply should of been something you didnt have to pay $15 for.

BF2142 Sad, it seems pretty cool and a lot of fun, but it was pretty much just a mod for BF2, but personally I'm not too into futuristic stuff like it, played the demo, but at this point all I wanted to do was play Project Reality =P

BF2142 also lowered the number of classes which I think is a crappy move. Every BF game that followed I didnt bother with, I was severely turned off by BF games seeming to be made for console more than PC. Also it took away the whole 32 vs 32 combat which was what i loved!

Hopefully BF3 changes my attitude. I'm sad there's no more commander and less classes, these are things that I think set the BF series apart from other series.

When I checked the beta, BF3 had LESS of a destructible environment compared to BC2... Have they done anything about this?

That's because you played on Metro and Caspian Border, probably the two maps with the least amount of destructibility. The other maps have quite a deal of destructibility building/vehicle/environment wise.

I actually hated the Commander role. It simplified things like Artillery and Recon into a single timer/button press combo.
I MUCH preferred BF1942's system of a guy in Artillery and a spotter marking for you and then having to learn the system from there. It left good artillery players leagues above the rest of the plebeians.

When I heard that BF3 has a Mortar and a similar system I was actually impressed. Until I again heard that the class carries an LMG a Mortar and Magical Ammo pouches. I wish for once that these super FPS game series would have their developers go out for at least a day to carry about a basic Combat load(plates and ammo) and then give them all this extra crazy shit they give them in game. The guy would make it 100m and need to sit down.

I can seewhere he is coming from.

Take BC 2's destructablity. One M203 round to a wall, and it was gone, one rocket, wall gone, 1 C4, wall gone.

The BF3 beta, i noticed that walls on buildings needed a lot more explosives to destroy them. The only time i did manage to blow up a wall, was when i unlocked C4 amd tried it out.

So Hicks does have a point, but its not less destructable, its harder to destroy things.

A properly supported tank gets like 20+ kills but back in BFplay4free I could easily get 25 kills in 1 IFV/tank life on my own.

In BF3 I actually has to have someone help me repair and more guys cover the flanks from infantry.

1. 2142 was a shit load more then a mod for 2142, the entire airship combat made a huge difference in play style

2. It did not reduce classes, but instead added classes with sub classes including a techtree

talking about destruction.

Its more specific and exact now.

But seems b/c of the nature of the maps its not as good...
BC 2 was basically individual square houses nicely separated. Minus oasis. So anything can goes. More of the level can be blown up
But in BF3 we see 1000s of walls and buildings that make up the level. So you cant take those out. And for some reason that cliff jumping level ive been shooting the portable houses with rockets and not getting any blown up walls.

Yes. Yes it truly is.
I would recommend people play it before they make their judgements (though that would cost 60 dollars so I can totally understand their apprehension).

Earlier, when You, Jodomar, Zontar and myself turned those apartments overlooking the back streets cap zone into a fuckin' fortress and were holding out against continuous assaults was some of the most fun I've had in a video game for a long long while.

Battlefield 2142...

I loved that game. It was the most interesting ever. All the futuristic sensors and shit made more sense than in a Modern war. The tanks were interesting and both of them had a advantage and a disadvantage. The conquest was quite meh as it was so same...

But the Titan mode.

Nothing beated it. It was ultimately the killer fun mode ever. Capturing silos and defending them or attacking their titan when their shields are down, fighting inside tight hallways and destroying the consoles before you reach the main reactor that you blow up then escaping from a doomed ship while fighting against the survivors.

Titan mode could have been better but I guess it was alight for the time. If you didn't get the hallways in the first blitz you never would and would be better off just letting the missiles kill the ship.

Titan mode was awesome and I hope they expand on it...well they kinda did with Rush mode, which i feel is one of the best modes in an fps ever.

So far from the truth lol maybe if you played in scrub servers where no one used a mike. The ones with all the 'rules' that cater to whiners. But if you played in the better servers at the time, you have squad leaders putting down beacons on the top of the titan, maintaining a spawn range and staging assaults instead of a hectic un-coordinated blitz that generally fails.

I played alot of 2142, generally on the Texas Team Players servers although i had a couple other favourites
