Seriously guys.

EA is not taking your name and selling it to people.

If you can get proof they are go ahead and sue, you will probably make alot of money.

Origin only has rights to gather retarded data like what applications you are using and what kind of hardware you have.

Seriously what you don't want EA to find out your playing modern warfare?

i dont care tbh. people are only goin nuts cuz its EA. I bet the person who first pointed it out has some type of ties to activision or is a big cod fan

ea imo is doing nothin that hasn't been done before, but in the age of "gotcha" journalism, this was bigger news than it should've been. privacy in america is dead, get over it.

YOU CANT MAKE MONEY BECAUSE BY SIGNING ORIGINS AGREEMENTS YOU CONSENT TO THEM DOING IT

http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2011/08/24/eas-origin-eula-proves-even-more-sinister/

For those of you who don't do their research or need it spelled out

heres the big part that you did agree to

IF YOU DO NOT WANT EA TO COLLECT, USE, STORE, TRANSMIT OR DISPLAY THE DATA DESCRIBED IN THIS SECTION, PLEASE DO NOT INSTALL OR USE THE APPLICATION

and Tym, were not all from the US, some of us actually have countries that protect our rights

Lastly im not saying do or do not play it, but at the very least understand what your signing as this is also a problem with workers being intimidated into signing harmful work contracts.

Herp derp

Read the whole section on that, or did you get dumbstruck on the first sentence of the TOS.

If you have proof they stored your personal data from Origin, go ahead and sue.

If you have proof they gave such personal data to 3rd parties, sue for even bigger money.

For using herp derp it proves your an idiot.

And which part of you cannot sue do you not understand.

Skip down to this line asshole

EA may also use this information combined with personal information for marketing purposes and to improve our products and services. We may also share that data with our third party service providers in a form that does not personally identify you.  Now think about it for a second, personal information that does not identify you?

Retards cant read. Let me simplify it for you.

Quote
IF YOU DO NOT WANT EA TO COLLECT, USE, STORE, TRANSMIT OR DISPLAY THE DATA DESCRIBED IN THIS SECTION, PLEASE DO NOT INSTALL OR USE THE APPLICATION.

See the words in bold?

The words described means what the TOS was talking about.

In this case the data they are permitted to obtain. Let me show you what that is.

Quote
You agree that EA may collect, use, store and transmit technical and related information that identifies your computer (including the Internet Protocol Address), operating system, Application usage (including but not limited to successful installation and/or removal), software, software usage and peripheral hardware, that may be gathered periodically to facilitate the provision of software updates, dynamically served content, product support and other services to you, including online services.

As you can see, the data described does not include personal data.

In fact to make your case even better in the event that you got proof they were selling your personal data they included

Quote
We may also share that data with our third party service providers in a form that does not personally identify you.

That further proofs they cannot do such a thing without legal consequences.

Now, on what they CAN do -

Find out the exact percentage of players that changed to MW3.

Find out whats the general capabilities of thier player's systems

Share to the world all that 65% of all there players look at porn.

Ok now the actually slightly scary part (lol not really  Wink ) -

Quote
EA may also use this information combined with personal information for marketing purposes and to improve our products and services.

That means if they already had your personal information obtained, they and only they can use your info to try to give you better ads.

Does NOT mean they can sell it though.

The "If you got nothing to hide then you have nothing to fear" is a pretty shitty argument tbh.

Yes it is if you're talking about the inherent rightness or wrongness of what EA is doing, but in that instance I was talking about personally not caring because there's nothing they'll find that will damage say... my reputation. The info they are collecting is benign.

Lets break it down

You agree that EA may collect, use, store and transmit technical and related information that identifies your computer (including the Internet Protocol Address), operating system, Application usage (including but not limited to successful installation and/or removal), software, software usage and peripheral hardware, that may be gathered periodically to facilitate the provision of software updates, dynamically served content, product support and other services to you, including online services.

(this is what you keep quoting as described with the TOS)(This is where you get so confused dark, right where they say combined, it means that is information undefined by above may ALSO be collected by them and used.)

. EA may also use this information combined with personal information for marketing purposes and to improve our products and services. We may also share that data with our third party service providers in a form that does not personally identify you.

Argue as much as you will but personal information is by definition identifying of yourself.

The info they are collecting is benign.

Tumors can also be benign at first.

I'm more concerned about all the bugs in Origin.

Ok so you gave them your name. Thats your fault there. Origin never went though and got the name.

And even then, they cannot sell your name.

Making your argument ...

YOU CANT MAKE MONEY BECAUSE BY SIGNING ORIGINS AGREEMENTS YOU CONSENT TO THEM DOING IT

Like those balls in dragonball Z...

Inert.

Bottom Line is

They can't find your personal info using origin unless you put it on your account.

They cannot give/sell your personal info.

They CAN see how many hours of porn you watch.

I'm more concerned about all the bugs in Origin.
Haven't seen any so far. I hope there isn't any.

Dark, im sorry you failed at reading. I apologize that your very trusting. But EA does not need you to enter your name. And if it can watch the same porn im looking at, then it can aquire my credit card info that im using to pay for my porn. (which does require your name)

Also to note that all computer parts that EA is collecting information from are legally required to have have very unique electronic tags so that they can be traced in case of theft. So now they know where you by things from, oops EA got hacked.

3 months later, your identity has been stolen.

Did you not pay attention to the part were I said they arn't aloud to collect personal info through Origin?

Doesn't matter if you have a program that has all your credit card info on it. Its irrelevant because, If they take it, its against the law.

Sue for many times more than your credit card's limit.

I dont want anyone scanning my hard drive to see what software i have installed.
Don't want them to see BestAsianWhores.exe?

None at the moment, although I bet there is a console command that can change this.

Tbh I'd really like to hear about any other software that you have to agree to in order to use another software and that is allowed to scan your entire harddrive.
