Here lies a fresh man, not knowing what hes getting into, he devises the ultimate company to deal with all types of threats yet he doesnt make a company that deals with one specific threat only! Thus leading him into a spiral of doom in which everything counters him!

No seriously, everytime I start a balanced army it really doesnt work out compared to other things (Scout car + marders running about)

And the amount of victories I have with armor company is pretty piss poor even after playing 15+ games (dont think thats alot for people who played longer then me).

I am very close to unlocking the pershing, and I have unlocked the calliope and mark target with the combat engineers as well,

I also have forward observations helping me find nasty AT guns that await me.

Though as many times as I try really hard to succeed as armor I fail pretty horribly

I only think this is because of how my company is made up which is pretty crap since it deals with all types of threats and not the specific ones for specific armies and doctorines.

So I ask all the professional armor players

1. What should I start with?
2. What other units should I have in my company?
3. How many of those units should I have?
4. What Should I use to counter AT?
5. What Should I use to counter AI?
6. Why Is my toaster unable to run this game in low graphics?

I will deeply thank all those who can help me in finding my holy place where I can live a happy life not losing all my guys due to my poor knowledge of EiR.

The warmap is like Dukenukem Forever.

No one thinks it will ever be released, then several years after everyone has given up the little hope they have it gets released from out of nowhere. And then it turns out it sucks.

Here's a tip for you: try starting with a jeep. Just one jeep.

Send this jeep to their lines to see their starts.

Then bring out 2 crocs / 2 m10s / 3 m8s / 2 shermans and try to DESTROY one guy.

If you can't destroy a guy who has like only pak + shrek for at with 2 crocs or 2 shermans or 3 m8s, it doesnt matter much which units you use because your micro and flanking just isnt good enough anyways.

Also a lot of armor player will say you should have a lot of assault engineers and 57mms. At least 4 57mms.

awwww that hurt,

Anyways I will try to do that but what do I do against flak 88s?

They are the most annoying piece of defense that I cant seem to find a weakness in (especially when wehrmacht are in defense and they get 5 minutes to set up peacefully there defense equipment).

No I'm saying that if you can't overwhelm other players using those kind of starts, you should be less occupied by what exact units you are fighting with and just always try to make the best out of them.

Those starts will make you a really good armor player fast because you learn the limits of how much AT you can take on.

Against flak 88s I would:
- swarm it with bazooka rifles approaching under mortar smoke
- swarm with flame engineers and stickies (covered by mortar smoke)
- just smoke it, send up a jeep for it to miss at while a COMBINED push of all your ATGs creep up on it. It really goes down fast to 57mm fire if you can just get the shots off.
- Sniper from distance (usually fails because you have to get so close to the "castle")

Also should I keep my shermans upgunned or not?

In VCoH if I upgunned the sherman it would have slightly faster turret traverse and 1 second longer reload to fire again, And I think the upgun is nerfed more in EiR against AI then it was in VCoH.

So should i keep the 75mm or take the 76mm on both shermans?

Depends man. If you see the:

mg42 mortar pak gren shrek pio whatever

the 75mm will be better

but we removed the 1 s longer reload in eirr, so the only difference is the splash now

Also to make it easier, look for shot blockers that people have built their 88 close to that you can flank around so that charge is shorter to the 88

I agree with Smokaz.

Less units = easier micro.

I would start with a jeep and follow up with an M8.

I bet you could take out a Pak48 and a single shreck squad with one greyhound. Try it.

True say, but somehow the shreck always finds a way of hitting me,

What is the accuracy modifier for shrecks if they are shooting a moving vehicle like a m8?

it seems pretty low to me, at long ranges shrecks easily nail my vehicle from a far (you can see the panzershreck rocket curving as well due to the game mechanics only being mathematical and calculating a hit or miss).

And also what does it mean if a vehicle has a yellow cover sign above it? Does it mean theres an increased chance to miss the vehicle or what?

I am going to quote coh-stats numbers because I do not use Corsix.

Schreck vs. Greyhound
Accuracy: 0.73
Moving: 0.8
Damage: 0.7

Schreck accuracy/distance
.35 Long
.75 Medium
1 Short

Moving Greyhound @ short = (0.73)(0.8 )(1) = .58
Moving Greyhound @ medium = (0.73)(0.8 )(0.75) = .44
Moving Greyhound @ long = (0.73)(.8 )(0.35) = .20

Stop when the schreck reloads, move when it begins to fire. (For the Greyhound's accuracy)

Assuming EIRR numbers are unchanged, and you dodge every Pak shot by maneuvering close around it, you have a great chance of survival, even at close range.

When the Pak is decrewed, the Schrecks are gone, and the enemy can't see what you're doing, plant an M8 mine on the gun, drive away, and repair.

One thing I would figure out are these things, how do you want to play your armor company? Actually I think we have a really good thread talking about armor somewhere let me unearth it.

If you see a all infantry start, it can be smashed by having 2 crocs and a bar squad just bear down upon it. Just pop bar supression on the rens while the crocs mop up everything. But you gotta know how to push infantry and crush them.

My bread and butter start will work out alright which I posted in the mentioned thread by Riki - but specific spam starts will give you trouble. If spam starts are troubling you, Smokaz' advice is dead on.

A little tip for doctrine unlocks though... Choose EITHER the Pershing or the Calli. Don't go for both, rarely does it work out well. If you have a Calli, then Urban Survival Kits is essential for the main gun activation and the incoming damage reductions.

Actually using a Pershing... Use it like a very big Sherman. It needs support, and it'll wreak havoc on infantry. The difference is that if a Tiger or Panther shows it's face, you can actually defend yourself. If you decide to use HVAP, know that you'll utterly face roll Tigers or Panthers, but Jagds and KT's will still put you down face to face. The only place you'll bounce a Tiger is at max range, and your penetration rates on a Panther will be around the 80% mark... And you'll sap an entire quarter of it's health in one shot. I've had one of my HVAP Pershings hunted by a full health Tiger while I was repairing at half health at my spawn - only to leave him a smoking wreck.

Make sure you have an ATG follow your Pershing around like a lost sheep, HVAP or not. If you get Marder or Stug rushed etc, then you'll see just how quickly 545 Fuel can be flushed down the toilet without any ATG assistance. Repair your Pershing at just under half health. The kit will actually do closer to a full on two thirds, but keeping your Pershing in the line of fire that long in my experience leads to it's early death, and much hair pulling.

Oh, and Snipers are a god-send for Armour companies. Kill off those Paks, destroy them with anything to hand then let your Armour roll them like a boss. Proper Sniper etiquette would likely require another entire post though.

I mean I know Obama was the first one in EiR to get a card. and tbfh the Race card is pretty OP. but Romney has the K.K.K., those guys seem to camo anywhere. So OP units from both sides.
At the end of the day, however, stormtroopers finally got the anal invasion with a cactus they have richly deserved for years.

one fun thing to do that used to work great for me, all infantry start, then your opponent (unless they are used to playing with you) wont suspect that you are armor. i dont play that start anymore but it was a lot of fun. also with an all infantry start you can really focus on killing and/or stealing atgs before your first piece of armor hits the field.

Thanks for the tips y'all

I also wanted to ask another question

what Tier 4 should i get for the pershing

and what  Tier 4 should i get for the calliope (obviously main choice is urban survival kit).
