Now again, why would we give the worst infantry squads a bundle of 3 mp44s when they can be better used on trained personnel.

Volksgrenadier divisions were smaller then normal Wehrmacht or Waffen SS divisions, and had a higher count of automatic weaponry to make up for that fact as well as the lack of training needed to use a bolt action rifle to the same degree of effectiveness.
If you don't beleive me, look at video games. BF3, for example. What's easier to use, an M16 with a 4x scope, or a bolt action sniper rifle with a 4x scope? If you're good at the game ("well trained") you'd take the bolt-action. If you're a noob, you grab the automatic weapon. It doesnt matter if you miss because you've got 30+ rounds you can immediately follow up with.
This is part of the reason that Volksgrenadiers get MP40s in vCoH. If it were realistic, they'd have 3-4 MP40s and a Kar98k. I gave Volks 3 MP44s in the upgrade because frankly, without them, they're worthess from the outset of the game. With MP44s they stand a decent chance against riflemen and have an opportunity to scale into the mid-late game.

again, whatever volkgrenadier can use, grenadier can use it better, thought this game was based on realism.
Im sure you can give them something else then giving a volkgrenadier squad mp44s for mid game action when infact you should already be teched up in your infantry by that time.

Demon, did you miss his point?
Give a volk (rookie) an automatic weapon and you up his combat effectiveness by 100%
Give a gren (trained) an automatic and you up his combat effectiveness by 75% or whatever
Hence, giving the auto's to volks gets you a bigger upgrade, and by the end of the war Germany had more inexperienced troops than veterans, go casualties!

Demon clearly thinks I'm oversighting this crap. He also fails to note that the MG42 is now incredibly deadly and is the main strength of WM T1-T2 gameplay. The volks now have an even better MG to protect the flanks of. The MP44s are NASTY at all ranges (with .35 long range accuracy as of now). Throw in the Oberfeldwebel command aura and that's a nasty nasty combination to fight off. Plus riflemen are still weak little grunts. Now that volks have 6 men to a squad, they have more squad health.

35 MU for a BAR and Greasegun. Garands already outclass bolt action rifles by a fair margin. It works out. The newest patch is up as of now.
To Do:
Remove the bugged 88.
Remove the mid-range pack from volks or re-balance the upgrade.

-Grenadiers' target type changed from infantry to infantry_soldier (as an experiment).
-Veteran Combat Package vet level requirement lowered to Vet1.
-Veteran Combat Package cost increased to 100 MU from 90 MU.
-Some WM troops' upkeep costs were lowered slightly.
-Placed a hardcap on some weapons; MG42 (4), M1917 HMG (4), 107mm Mortar (2), 60mm Mortar (3), 81mm Mortar (3).
-MP44 accuracies changed to 0.25/0.45/0.8 from 0.35/0.55/0.9.
-Autofire artillery issues resolved.
-Rifleman sergeant received an M1 Garand.
-Volksgrenadier MP40 upgrade cost reduced to 30 MU from 50 MU.
-Volksgrenadier Midrange package requires the Krieg Barracks.
-All MGs have had their accuracies reduced.
-All Kar98ks have a 0.75 reload modifier at short range and an 0.85 reload modifier at medium range.
-.50 cal MGs' accuracies reduced to 0.15 distant and long range from 0.2.
-Both the Oberfeldwebel and Platoon Officer auras convey an Accuracy 1.1 modifer (was previously 1.15).
-Oberfeldwebel cost reduced to 300 Manpower from 400 Manpower.
-WM Officer Cost reduced to 265 Manpower from 365 Manpower.
