The key to getting better is to learn from other players. You don't learn by playing against someone that's on the same skill level or worse than yourself. You learn by playing against someone much better than yourself and then adapting that same strategy yourself to master it. You can essentially win by having a strong company build and teamworking, micromangement comes later. Always reevaluate your company after every game. What worked and what didn't. For teamwork you'll need ventrilo. If you talk to the people you play with they can guide you can give you advice on how to improve. That and try different factions and doctrines, some are more difficult to play than others.

Sharks are not monsters Henley, they are cute, cuddly and misunderstood. They love humans. sometimes they love TOO much. They love people so much that sometimes their kisses separate people into two flailing pieces which are consumed by other sharks in a frenzy of peace and joy.

It all reads in the OP.

It is all about manly tears and sucking it up. EIRR is not easy, its not forgiving either. It will tear you apart emotionally. It won't forgive, it won't give anything easily.

People you face in the launcher are most likely experienced players, some less than the others. Your best bet is to grind games same way you lift weights in gym. You can't expect to lift 100 kilos from the bench in the first go now can you? The key is experience. Once you gain common ropes of EIRR you begin to understand it. EIRR at first is like learning something new. At first you don't understand it and it scares you and you hate it but if you keep doing it, you will suddenly start to understand it. It opens up like a book of possibilities.

Once you experience that by then you are a veteran of EIRR and you start to know how it works. Before that, all you can do is practice, cry and keep hitting join battle and rfs and rtl over and over and over and over again.

We've long come to the conclusion that neither videos nor walls of text help a lot of newbies, what really matters is how accessible the launcher and game is in itself. Needless to say, it hasn't exactly been done right so far, as indicated by the very small new player 'crossover' rate. (New accounts versus accounts that play more than 1-3 games)

At least with the introduction of the warmap, newbies doctrines will be on a rather evem footing compared to everyone else.

I remember one of my first games, my lvl 1 account going up against windcries, mysthalin or uglysoris lvl 9 accounts.

Bad stacks are bad.

Actually I Have scientific evidence that hatin' helps. I will present this at my EIRR discourse in Michigan this autumn.
Hatin' has proved to effect a 33% in noob retainability. The charts I have prepared will blow your mind. Some really interesting findings around the concept of creating community milk cows like Bearsoul who everyone can dispense sweet milk from.
