So for anyone paying attention, the game Endless Space is really, really really fucking good... As in, saviour of 4x good!
That aside, game is going into beta later today and with that multiplayer is going to be released, as such some of us are throwing a game together.

So far it's Nikomas, Icelandic, EEIRmod and schmidt seemed interested last time I heard.
Anyway, if you want to join just make sure to keep your evening clear  Wink

We'll be rolling when luci wakes up I guess, around 20ish gmt? Unless the patch or other people get delayed >_>

That's like offering Beer to fuck the fat chick. It will work for a while, but it's not gonna last. Not only that, but there is zero motivation for the Fat chick to loose weight.

I could be interested if we had an amount of time where we capped playing set before we start, I don't want someone convincing the group to play for 7 hours

Umm I'm down to play tonight probably(see what the gf's up to)

But the weekend will be terrible. I'll be mashing away at Guild Wars 2 and MechWarrior:Online(if I get the beta)

I may take breaks from GW2 with Endless Space. I'm trying to learn all I can about the mechanics in Endless Space so I can utilize them to my full advantage.

I'm also cursed in the game as EiRRMod can attest to. Every single game I've played so far has limited me to about 4 systems of tier 2 planets.

There isn't that big of a point of comparison considering Sins is Real-Time and Endless Space is Turn-Based. I prefer Sins personally but Endless Space has its merits.

The only thing about Endless space that will hang alot fo people up is the actual comabt.

They decided to go with a new combat model whereby each party picks ability cards for every phase of combat(Long, Medium, Melee)

Besides having different modifiers on each card, they also have a category which counters another category and is countered by a category, so it builds a psychological Rock, Paper, Scissors mentality between players which is intense vs Humans and bland vs the AI.

Personally I preferred the combat of Master of Orion 2. If only for the fact they had utility upgrades and Boarding actions. I felt like I could do more with the overall Empire/Combat management in MoO2.

Which brings up the issue of Ground combat. MoO2's planetary combat could be resolved in a single turn which was a little annoying but at least it was a separate entity. System Invasions in Endless Space are weird. They take a really long time initially and then if you don;t hold the system for 50+ turns you can lose it in a single turn or 3-5. I had dedicated Invasion ships in a match and it took me ages to grab the system, which is problematic considering your enemy can build ships, leave them planet side and then launch them as a single fleet when he has enough.

Före like 20-21 from now. By my count we have more than 4 confirmed players... Yay
But now to sleep, I graduate in less than 10 hours!!!

And burn I don't mind the combat, It's fast and decisive unlike a lot of games in the genre were doomstacks take forever to resolve, like sots1
