Never bought one, never wanted one and I am completly in the dark on these.  I will be moving around for a few weeks to months due to my job and wanted a new rig anyhow.  I can plug it into the tv or my monitor for bigger display.  Any suggestions around $1000 USD.

Something along these lines. I have a slightly older model, plays anything still.

If you find a new one for the price you are looking for ASUS comes with a 1 year full accidental warranty.

I would love to carry a big hulk of a PC around, first the box, then the monitor, keys and mouse but hey, good luck setting that up in a train, good luck travelling around with all that.

Gaming laptops are great if you move a lot. Especially if you leave your home, or are you people telling me that where ever you go you drag your PC along with you?

I'm telling you that I don't need to carry my computer with me when I leave the house unless there is a LAN party and where I can easily put
allt he stuff in my car.

I'm not sure how often you're leave the house with your notebook and with the plan to play video games.
Are you telling me that you're a gaming junkie?  Wink

I use a gaming laptop, use it at my house, use it at my GF's if she's just watching one of her shows, use it when I have to travel, use it when I have to go do Army shit. Runs stuff fine, the question is, "Is it worth it to you to pay $200-400 more for portability?"

If yes then it's a great option, I will probably never buy another desktop gaming rig, not worth the space or hassle.

Nope, Engineer. Blow things up or build it up, one of the two.

Why wouldn't you take a laptop? Barracks are boring as hell otherwise, use it for movies, music, games, whatever.

It is the modern era Chefartz, you can get online anywhere in the world.

I think I will talk to the army recruiter next year(which happens to be a ex ranger), and start to get my plan straight. Might do college before trying to become 11B and then hopefuly make it into the rangers.

One thing, gaming capable laptop = scary shit...
Got one that cost me around 750ish... problem with a "Gaming" endabled laptop is that tye run 90 degrees hot under load? Sounds like an issue? No probs... It's built to handle that

(Yeeeck, it's nice to be able to game on the move, but anything but the extreme will make you scared shitless on the temps it runs)

And really, it's not really manufacturer error, I mean, it's fucking hard to fit a dedicated graphics card (ati 6770m in my case) and an I7 in a laptop AND still have room for proper cooling while still keeping it laptop sized. It works, but it makes you wonder how many years it'll actually last.

Oh yeah, while I normally go for nvidia the built in graphic switcher on the catalyst helps a bunch, the built in gpu on the I7 can handle most general tasks so the 6770m (The one thing that runs really hot in most cases) isnt actually switched on unless you need it for heavy load.

The officer is considerably better than a riflemen squad at carrying weapons. Officers have good accuracy so they will hit most targets.

A good RL mate of mine was/is an engineer - did several tours (or whatever theyre called) - hes one scary mother-fucker who likes to blow shit up too much.

One of those regular army guys?  Meh, engineers are brains AND trained to kill.

AmPM, never knew you were a engie Wink  Maybe we should make an EIRR engie skin with your face on it hahaha =)

The army recruiter did roughly 3 tours in afghan and iraq, and he is one quite motherfucker. His personality was always so calm and reserve which is so different compared to all the other recruiters ive seen. And knowing that he has done multiple tours as a infantryman, especially a ranger, I don't doubt he seen and done some things...
