Dat ship customization, dat system view, dat race customizer... I'm not sure how it plays yet as little has been shown but... Call me optimistic on this one Wink
It's turn based with real time battles from what I know, like sots.

The officer is considerably better than a riflemen squad at carrying weapons. Officers have good accuracy so they will hit most targets.

Demon posession is real and it's not funny, it's the creepiest thing you will ever experience.

I would also like to add I watch fox news everyday all day and will continue to watch it while being proud of that fact. I'm sure you enjoy your communist news network just as much.

ya this game has been on my radar.

but im not liking the cliche 4x space game formula of "more" crap is more fun. Researching laser 1, 2, 3, 4, etc is boring crap. And when the tech tree has like 200 skills where you opponent will have 80% of the samething doesnt really mean player play styles will stand out.

While it seems that things like politics and science and trading play a big part of the games it just boils down military strength

I saw people play a board game called Twilight Imperium. Basically a space 4x game. And the strategy involved, and every move and decision had an apparent consequence or benefit was really cool to see. I think the tech tree is like only 50 skills and but most people only had like 10. And each one really affected the gameplay.

Some of my favourite ships are asymmetric, such as the Millennium Falcon.

Also, missed it but customizable and race specific tech tree's...  Shocked Also, you can build them symmetrically since it does the modular deisgn thingeys.

You people are all wrong.

You should fly an Egg shaped Oval. Ram people and not worry about the structural pressures exerted across your vessel. Besides, when they do penetrate your vessel -WAIT FOR IT-

Ship to ship combat in space is silly anyway.

Anything moving at a decent rate for even interplanetary travel will be almost impossible to hit.

I'll admit that first generation weapons for space combat would be the equivilent of just throwing as much shit out there as possible. but thats what Battleships did for 50 years. Lobbing shells 25-35km to hit a target 260m long by 30m wide.

We've got computer systems that track missiles and using chemical weapons to shoot them out of the air, and thats in a friction environment.

Using what we've got now for Space combat would be pretty futile but the principle technology exists and the theory is sound.

I'm sure if you told Napoleon that one day Cannons would shoot 80km with less the 1mX1m deviance he'd have laughed at you
