So me (and prolly hicks) wil be playing these two mods later tonight, most likely anyway, anyone else wanna grab em to make it a 2v2/3v3?

Back to Basics is, in the words of Hicks, CoH gone hardcore without fucking everything up. Very few new units,  more cover focus and all that. Not a lot of new units but the gameplay feels good, also, all halftracks are open topped now... CLOWNCARS FOR EVERYONE!

Normandy 44' is... You know blitzmod? Well, imagine that, but with the attitude of "HISTORICAL ACCUARCYYYYYY" and "We can take that further lul". Squads are all in the realm of 10 man and a tiger costs 800mp, 75 fuel and munitions... and can be killed by a piat (3 piats 6 rifles or so) squad, lol.

Also, Siegfried railway gun artillery barrage offmap, lol.

Anyway, both are kinda fun, if anyone is in, just install it and be on in 9-10 hours.

The officer is considerably better than a riflemen squad at carrying weapons. Officers have good accuracy so they will hit most targets.

BTB sounds interesting, and Normandy 44' is pretty fun too, but at some point you have so much resources you can just buy anything, blob, and then throw it at the enemy and win.

I looked into it more deeply. For the most part, N44 is a giant copypaste. The units are balanced to a point of excellence that Relic could never hope to acheive, but all those new units are by and large copies of themselves. The riflemen for the 29th ID and 2nd Armored are the same; only Airborne Riflemen stand out. Shermans, the M10, and the 57 are all copies. The same can be said for the PGs for PE, the tank busters for all axis companies, Grenadiers, Pioneers, MG teams etc etc. The only difference is the cost and the aestetic of each unit, as well as availability. There were only 2 new weapons under the 'rifle' tree in the american weapons tree, for example. It's a fantastic mod, historically accurate to a fault, and (imho) fan-fucking-tastic to look at (eye boner), but parts of it are drudgingly similar.

If not, then I wipe, then someone gets something they shouldn't, then it gets abused, then the shit hits the fan and then I ban shab.

fyi

the "Back to Basic" website is back online and they also seem to plan something like a new patch fixing things...

*(I like the other mentioned Mod "Normandy 44'" btw)

*<= no fail shots from M10 ... nice sound ... needs 6(+) std. Shermans at the same time to kill a panther ... Panther eats allied tanks for breakfast ... comp AI  is nice ...

tried playing this and europe at war, dont really like either.

Normany 44 just seems too complicated. Cool mechanic though and way cheap stuff. AI seems to be a little smarter as well

Blitzkrieg is still one of my favorite mods, as well as that one mod with Coop missions thats discontinued now.

Dafuq man, don't ask for proof if you'll refuse it if it's not in your favor, logic fallacy for the bloody win.
