Alright, so after the complaints and nerfs for HE artillery shells against armour, might I suggest something? Currently, HE shells bouncing off armour looks fucking ridiculous if you have any idea how HE actually works it makes your head hurt, even worse, when you watch howitzer shells bounce off tigers causing no damage at all... So three suggestions here then.
Opt.1 - I assume this is hard/impossible to do given it hasn't been done yet, but if humanly possible the best option would be for shells fired by howitzers/SPG's to explode and cause their regular splash upon impact with armour. Again, I dont expect this to be a realistic option.
Opt.2
- A more realistic option that would require quite a bit of Corsix* work is to copy after the Calli, currently the Calli rockets have a 100% chance to penetrate any target as far as I know, yet the damage those rockets do per individual rocket isn't that high
(If several hit thou, ouch)
. So set all indirect howitzers/spgs like 105, StuH, 25pdr, leIG and so on to always penetrate their targets without fail.
In return lower their damage modifiers according to the targets armour type, he heavier it is the less damage is actually done even if the shells always penetrate. Gameplay wise it's actually not going to make to much of a difference in most cases, M10's will still take a decent dent from leIG's like they already do and KT's would barely be scratched by artillery, but they would receive some amount of damage.
Opt.3 - The lazy way out would be to remove collision with tanks on artillery shells, this however is probably a bad idea as it'll buff the lighter tanks that are already getting penetrated by artillery, and nerf the HT's that are not.
In the end, It's funny how you can kill a panther with 105 splash but not actually with a direct hit as it's going to bounce. It's immersion destroying things like that I'd like to fix with this suggestion. Not high priority maybe, but I think it's worth looking over.
*As far as I know the only things that are required to change for the second suggestion is the base penetration and the damage target tables for each artillery piece. I can do this, if the BT throws me the numbers I'd gladly punch them in myself to get it done. You could even base the numbers on the penetration chances there were before if you want a frame of reference.

tldr, no more artillery shells bouncing of armor doing nothing without unbalancing anything if properly done.

I'd call it a "Mechanics" post, it's more about changing a mechanic to make a little bit more sens and if done right it should have little impact on the balance of the game, and thus not really a balance post
(I know, it's in the territory, but I had to type it in before I forgot it and it's not really about game balance but more about the artillery mechanics)

I think this is a good idea, I would be in favor of making HE like shells do low damage but have higher penetration rates. We could play with the target tables and deflection damage to achieve the desired effect.

How about giving it a big splash with reduced damage outside of targeted entitiy? So that the other members of the squad will take guaranteed damage (like 40, 1/2 gren hp) but the squad member "hit" will die

If your main gripe is with seeing the arty shell bounce - then option 3 is the best one.
Splash is also subject to the penetration modifiers seen in the direct hit, and bounced shells still deal full splash to units around the tank (stand a rifle squad in front of a Pershing, and watch a Tiger shell bounce off the front.. near-killing the squad) - so essentially removing collision would ensure you'd never see "bounces". The only change would be graphical.
But personally, seeing a shell go straight through a tank before exploding would look miles more stupid to me than a shell occasionally bouncing off the tank.
