Hey guys!

I am thinking to buy a new laptop, mainly for watching movies and play online games like EIRR. I don't know many thinks about computers but I will appreciate your help about what is better to have it in the laptop for this main purpose. I only know I want 17,3" screen. I don't mind the weight or price, well better behind 1000$. For the rest I am open for advices like amount of RAM memory, type of graphic card, memory, speed of processor, intel - AMD. Better i5 or i7?

Thanks for your help.

I got a laptop about a year and a half ago, the first laptop that i've bought, i think it was april 2011.

was only $400! the thing can play CoH, killing floor, and TF2 on it on lower settings totally fine. It's an AMD and let me tell you the thing can run pretty hot, but just spend $20 and get one of those fan lap things and it will help a ton! Of course if you're looking to get something closer towards the $1,000 price range you'll need advice from someone else. But for an entry level laptop i love the thing!

I friend from me bought a laptaop with a i5 + 4Gbyte RAM (Or even 8?) + Radeon HD7670 for about 500 bucks. It was a awesome offer and pretty powerful in this price class. But I can't remember the exact name of the Notebook, the only thing I know is that it was a big 15'inch Notebook from Acer.

Thanks for the answers, I am now collecting information about HDD, Graphic card and other stuff within the laptop to create my favorite one. AMPM is close to it, thanks for the link.

I truly believe the biggest problems with laptops is the refrigeration. They get hot to easy, are there any way to solve this? and I don't mean to put a fun close to it in the room... Wink

Another point. Is it better a HDD with 7200rpm or 5400? What it the advantage one from another?

once again thanks for your help

I wouldn't spend to much on a new computer/laptop since they may be changing the complete architecture around.

AMPM posted the best realistic option imo.

Asus wins my vote on performance/cost.

well ur money is better spend in a desktop than a laptop if u go for medium or high settings and with 1000 europian cash. If u wanna play on low or medium, dear god half of the 1000 bucks are enough.

Thanks Hans. For me will work perfect a desktop computer but I am temporary in States so if I buy one of those I can't bring it back to Europe whenever I will leave. If I will be here for a couple of more years I will think about it but I can't be sure about it. So Laptop should be the best option in this scenario

well you could always spend $400 on a laptop and $600 on a desktop? why would you not be able to bring the desktop back? just shipping is too much?

Late getting back to you, any high end laptop will be pushing a lot of heat, I like the ASUS design, both working on it and in use. Exhaust is pushed out the rear instead of the side, and it has quite good cooling. It is however a bit thicker than some other models.
