I advertise the mod. For you jerks that dont think I do anything:

Be Nice!!!

well for the future let us/me know that you are going to advertise so i dont automatically suspect everyone of being a smurf, k?

its tiring to join a game of EIR and playing endless stomps because they are actual new players, not just some smurfs.

If you feel someone is a smurf, then report them and we can solve the issue.

It is funny how every time someone sees a name they do not recognize, they cry smurf!!!
There is one person in this community that has had all their accounts deleted and created ONE new one. This does not mean every new person is a smurf.......lol

I don't think Ground or any other DEV needs to announce PR that may bring new players to the mod. That is a ridiculous request.

The reason why i think that is because hes most likely a smurf, granted checking the Anti-smurf system makes it A lot easier its still most likely a smurf.

The reason why it would be nice is because atleast i know when i can expect hoards of new people, it also makes it a lot easier to avoid playing games when you do so i dont have to be the one helping them but some other unlucky sod can do it instead.

I can understand if you do not want to help new players. It can become tedious at times.

It would be nice if we could all just be a little less self absorbed and help out where we can. Every person in this community complains about lack of games, but does not want to actually do anything about it. (not pointed at you specifically Ice.)

If we all helped the newbs and tolerated a few loses in the meantime, then we would have more games, more people, and eventually more experienced people to help further newbs.

I agree that it is frustrating as hell when newbs will not get vent, but not every experienced player here started with vent either.

Something else we need to consider with Newbs is possible language barriers. While it may appear some do not have "Two Brain cells to rub together" it could be that our English only launcher, tutorials, and main forums make it more difficult.

When I first came to Eirr I did not have a clue how to get this mod loaded let alone how to actually play the game. If it had not been for VictorTarget and Wildsolous patiently walking me through it, I may have just given up. It took about ten games to really "get it"

Meh...... not everybody is capable of the patience it takes to help people. But we could at least make an effort not to squash them like a bug in game.

Perhaps you should stick a label (In a dozen different languages) warning people that if you don't speak English then you're gonna have a hard time.

I mean I know Obama was the first one in EiR to get a card. and tbfh the Race card is pretty OP. but Romney has the K.K.K., those guys seem to camo anywhere. So OP units from both sides.
At the end of the day, however, stormtroopers finally got the anal invasion with a cactus they have richly deserved for years.

A) good point with the language (shit deleted the quote), had also my problems with that in the beginning.

B) the change of mind tolerating loses with newbs is something that has never happend during my stay here and i bet it wont in the future without changes from outside of the playerbase...why do u always make such a plea to the community?

Why not?

There is not a lot we can do as a dev team if the community just shits on new guys anyway. If may seem impossible to change the community attitude, but I don't think it is.

It is the same thing as the massive crusade around the world to try and stop bullying. Right now it appears impossible,  just like black people thought it would be impossible to stop slavery in America.

With time, education, and understanding, the problem can be corrected.

iam still the opinion that an automatch-system would make EIRR more time-saving and newb-friendlier. Just having the feeling that any plea is knocking on a stone wall.

Hello,
I am a new player or will be as I have just downloaded the mod. I have no idea what I am getting into and am not a stellar COH player. I read about the mod and a friend said it really expanded the tactics and gameplay of COH.
If I may make a suggestion. People should be required to go through a training period of say 3 sessions each 1 hour long. This would include being on teamspeak to get instructions. Most gaming clans have DI's or instructors who volunteer about 1 hour a week to teach new players at a specific time. I am not sure how big this community is but if you could get 1 or 2 people willing to schedule a Boot Camp on the weekends at a specified time it would help with the learning curve, reduce stomps, give the new player a friend in the community to ask questions of, AND introduce him to other members of the community on TS. I would hate to think this community is like League of Legends where insults are hurled with lightning speed for the slightest mistake.
I hope I can contribute once I figure out what I am doing. I still have much to read and learn before I even attempt to join a match. I plan on watching every video I can.
Cheers,
Ravensworth
Just as an aside. I am not a Smurf. I am a Muppet.

well i guess we could try that out once or twice, on the other hand 2v2-3v3s with nothing but new players tend to be kinda......non agressive and out of touch what a normal game actually is and its a lot simpler to just make new people watch things like Skaffa's Strat shoutcast and Krebs Coho's shoutcast and then get decent at the game by playing.

Granted we could make it more of a friendly community by forcing them to go on vent to create fair games with people that are willing to help instead of having 9-12 people in the launcher sitting there watching a stomp 2v2 that is some newb Vs Terr/shab that is either gonna end badly for the newbs or never gonna happen to begin with.

Wait arent you that guy that made Shoutcasts on Youtube or am i mistaking you for someone else?

HI ravensworth,

Welcome to the mod!!!

snip..... I would hate to think this community is like League of Legends where insults are hurled with lightning speed for the slightest mistake....... snip

The majority of this community is great and mostly helpful. Unfortunately, like real life, there is a small minority that tend to go out of their way to make new players lives miserable.

Edit: BTW - we use ventrilo, not teamspeak.

You will experience this negativity, but hopefully you will learn quickly to avoid the insecure childish behavior of the stompers.

Hello Ice,
I appreciate all the shoutcasts. But until you are in the game most of the information is not going to mean much. Playing a game with a veteran to answer your questions on Vent as you play is going to make it much easier to learn and to become part  of the community.

Yes and by making a more friendly community you make a larger more vibrant community. I have seen this work in other games as well. I think the more you get people to talk on Ventrillo the less distant and detached they feel.

Wait arent you that guy that made Shoutcasts on Youtube or am i mistaking you for someone else?

Nope no shoutcasts.

Hi Tank,
I can deal with being stomped if I learn a little each time. If someone stomps me and then isn't willing to give me constructive advice then I just won't play with them again. I don't have a need to win. I want to win and will work hard to get better each time but losses are inevitable when you are new. Every community has those type of people that love to stomp others and then crow about it. Hopefully people avoid them enough that they either shape up or leave or can't get a game.

As a tabletop miniatures gamer I love the "Campaign Game" feel that this mod seems to provide. I like that each battle effects my war.
Cheers,
Ravensworth
