It's a bit different, the combat system is much more focused on formations and tactics rather than individual character management, the only character you can swap equipment on is the main one.

On the other hand, given you can have 20 in play at once, that's not such a bad thing.

Yeah i remember. Teh combat system is very different, there was supposed to be a PS1 game like that that never saw the light where monsters became your weapons and armor.

I would love the original two Deus Ex to be remade with the Human Revolution engine, cuz its so much more fun, even if the story isnt' as great. I tried to go back and play the first two and was bored and frustrated out my mind.

And speaking of both J/SRPG's and reasons to get a PS3, this is probably still the best game out on the PS3 so far imo... Then again, it's the reason I got a PS3 in the first place. Anyway, Valkyria Chronicles, if you haven't, play it, it's great. Hell, I don't even like cell shading most of the time but I think it's one of the best looking games ever made with it's watercolour painting look.

Valkyria Chronicles was fun. The visual design was amazing, liked the way the watercolor fades into sketch lines at the screen margins. The AI left much to be desired...closer to a puzzle game than turn based tactics. But still a good game.

Liked MGS4 better, though.

A good game design and I daresay a revolutionary combat system wasted on such a genericized and overly sterotypical cast of characters and a storyline that leaves much to be desired. Much.

Really, when it comes to TBT or RTT games the genre as a whole are normally just a really advanced puzzle games if you want to boil it down to that far.
