This is not getting poor; this is great marketing. Buyers are going to pay for old obsolete games.....

They wouldnt do this if they weren't poor. They would instead put a reasonably priced bundle on steam. Not to mention the studios they cancelled and the whole part where they said they were going to focus on their top games.
Lets not forget how low THQs stock is right now.

Square Enix did it too some time ago and they weren't "poor". It's a smart move to get money from "dead" games.

Dafuq man, don't ask for proof if you'll refuse it if it's not in your favor, logic fallacy for the bloody win.

But THQ is poor, or at least highly under-performing in their leaderships eyes.

I think you could use a little business education......
Let's use one of my products as an example. I design a home, it wins some awards, people pay me big money to use my design.
As time goes on, other designs become better and flavor of the day. I have made my shit ton of money on the old designs, but I will try one last kick at the cat by offering them at a reduced price. Including a deadline is like attracting flies to shit. A deadline is marketing 101.
The games Relic is offering are done. Their shelf life is over. Now they can make some extra revenue by using the oldest marketing tool in the book.
I have no idea if Relic is broke - but I am willing to bet some serious money that they didn't do this because they are.

Do you not realize this pack can be bought with a single dollar?
If they were just doing this because they want thier old games to sell, they would make a sale on steam for $10 and it would still be a steal. But instead they went the desperate measure which is nearly a charity to them. People can spend just a single dollar to get nearly the entire pack.

They have already had sales like that, but it's a six year old game.

and now you have everyone in the gaming world talking about Relic!! Then they release CoH2 and guess what happens..........
Get your head out of your ass. This sale has absolutely nothing to do with making money, it has everything to do with marketing.
Will they possibly make a nickel, maybe, but it is not the point.
Exactly why my last book of plans was sold dirt cheap. People bought it because it was ridiculously under priced. Now they know my design, tell their friend, and I increase my new plan sales.
I could be wrong though......... there are still some people out there who may feel I am not really all that successful.

im terrible aboot business. but i think its a smart move. not only does it gain good publicity but they might make a little on the side.
Think of it this way no one is going to buy coh1 when coh2 comes out. and for people that may not know the coh serous but enjoy metro2033 they might say Oh waht a great deal!. and maybe fall in love with coh as well.

With the price that THQ stock was at, and the what, 3-5 different game studios shut down, and thier last big game "did not perform to our expectations" (there exact words by the way), your honestly telling me the sale had absolutely nothing to do with the fact that they have been going downhill?

1.2 million in sales from this so far. Most of it going to Charity I hope, I can't imagine anyone deciding to give THQ a bigger cut of their purchase price vs a charity.

Yes, you know why? Because they CANT Expect to make money off this since a good chunk will go to charity anyway. It's a marketing stunt to sell CoH2 and hopefully, more of darksiders 2 after people play the first one.

False. They can and will expect to make money of this. In fact they already have. A campaign like this would be dirt cheap to run, especially since it only requires them to leverage already excess inventory.
Then you factor in the goodwill and marketing virality (which is extreme at this point) and you're talking serious ROI for the initiative. I work in marketing and eCommerce, I know this shit backward.

Unfortunately that's simple conjecture and you are lacking in the actual evidence take the theory beyond the possibility stage at this point.
There is a very good chance they are making out quite well from this based on the numbers. Not as well as the charities which is nice though.
