yeah man, just get windows 7, i highly doubt any of the devs would know how to fix windows 8 problems.

i dont know if you read anything on windows 8, but good lord is it going to suck! its going to be like windows vista all over again but worse!

in fact if you dont have windows 7 id even roll back to vista or xp to be honest.

Windows 8 seems to have problems with a lot of software.

Its the compatibility thats the issue, Windows 8 is so locked loads of software that isn't specially made by microsoft wont work on it.

Im have no glue what's going on but I'm sure that something like MicrosoftDirectX 1000.xyz will only work on this
version and ShaderModell 5.42abc doesn't work on Win 7 (Or older) to force all the gamers to buy ( Wink) a new Windows copy.

if that is going to happen 2 things are inevitable, Either game devs that still do games for the PC are going to go on Linux like steam or its going to die out as i and many others are not gonna to waste money on that bloddy OS unless they get it for cheaper than it is now.

Dev's will likely start to come out of their closet and start using OpenGL, and we won't have to worry about which OS to use anymore.

If you look back in history you will notice that nothing like this will happen.
With Windows 7 they stopped to support anything higher then DirectX9.0c on the old Windows XP operation system and softly-forced the gamer to move on to the newer operation systems to be able to run (enable!) the highest graphic settings. Exactly this circumstance is the reason that some modern computer games have a fallback renderer which enables a DirectX9  compatible mode to support system which have Windows XP as their operating system running.

Your issue probably has nothing to do with Windows 8 and is probably more to do with this issue. Give it a try and send me a PM if it does not work.

I tried everything everybody suggested here and it did not work.

HERE IS WHAT WORKS

Step 1 - Install ToV
Step 2 - Download this :http://www.filefront.com/17208542/Desktop.7z

Make sure it is put in C:\mydocuments\companyofheroes\patch. If you just run CoH after this step it WILL NOT WORK

Step 3 - You must go here:http://cohpatch.relic.com/
Step 4 - Download all the patches under ToV

Make  sure the patches are in your C:\mydocuments\companyofheroes\patch

Step 5 Run each patch in order

Run Coh - Done!!!

I am going to lock this threads so this guy may actually get some help with out having to sift through a bunch of shit about hypothesizing the future of gaming......

Edit- fuck! Of course the filefront folder is not there anymore.....arg!! I can't remeber what the hell is was now.....
