It's 50% off and I'd love to buy it, a 4pack is considerably cheaper (8 vs 12 euro)

I like War of the Roses. but I could be down for Chivalry. The atmosphere in Chivalry seems better but he combat in War of the Roses is more intense for me.
I could see myself playing them both. just primarily WotR

You could play the hl2 mod it's based on. It won't have the fancy graphics, but it will have the same gameplay.

Sharks are not monsters Henley, they are cute, cuddly and misunderstood. They love humans. sometimes they love TOO much. They love people so much that sometimes their kisses separate people into two flailing pieces which are consumed by other sharks in a frenzy of peace and joy.

I like the combat in Chivalry, stamina management is extremely important.

While there isn't a stamina pool in WotR you'll get fucked up swinging wildly. First you won't be readying powerful attacks, and second you'll get parried and shanked. I think WotR probably has a steeper learning curve though. The 3rd person vision mode can make aiming thrusts and swings at specific points of armour really hard. The ranged combat is good though(active reload system) and the level of customization in weapons and armour is in depth.(weapon type, fighting style, blade material, blade design, handle/pommel material, etc)

I had some difficulty choosing between the two, but more reviews and a larger community in general tend to favour chivalry. + I really like having multiple game modes. Besides, I have already played Mount and Blade and I'm not a huge fan of their combat system.

I'm pretty happy with my purchase, though imo the archery aspect of the game feels a little unsatisfying. It's pretty hard to land kills consistently and when you do manage to get a kill they simply feel somewhat ungratifying compared to melee kills. I don't know if WoTR has the same problem, perhaps it simply has to do with the difficult combination of powerful and relatively easily accessible melee and hard, skill-based ranged combat. Additionally, pole-arms and twohanders in general feel a little too good compared to everything else.

WotR actually gets complimented on it's Archery system. Especially the Active reload for Crossbows. Not to mention the customization options in Bow, Arrow head, additional upgrades and perks.
Sticking an Arrow through the visor of a charging enemy in WotR is pretty damn satisfying. Usually makes a squish noise and plays an Instant Kill notification to the server

Yeah WotR had very good gameplay, but Chivalry seems to have some neat gore effects which really belong into a medieval game
