I love EiR, but seriously is there a reason for not fixing the warmap? Is it difficult to make a defensive limit like max 1 k defensive points?

Or isnt it fixed because you have some bigger plans for it?

Maybe you should list out the problems that you have with it?

Sorry, thought it was obvious. It's way to static, nothing is happening. Its pretty much pointless to attack any sector since all have 5000 + defensive points. Its boring as hell.

When a successful attack does 250 damage, and a failed defense adds 50 in the same game its easy to see why its going no where.

I think one of the key problems is that the resource bonus distribution was not coded correctly. So you still have sectors giving you resouce bonuses directly instead of the sector distributing those resources to surrounding sectors.

That just leads players camping key sectors which become impossible to take.

There's also no incentive to fight on the front lines and to push towards taking victory points.

Example:

You gain the same amount of warcards fighting in back sectors as you do the front lines.

You gain the same amount of gold fighting in back sectors as you do the front lines.

There is no incentive to take the victory points and end the war. Progress needs to carry over from war to war for the winning faction in some way.

So, yes we pretty much know the problems and EIRRmod has tried to address it, it takes alot of time and only one person can do it.
You probably wont see another warmap patch until we've got EIR2 up and running.

hey, warmap is awesome, just as eirr.

yes its true, that it is too static and many guys are camping ( me aswell) somewhere in the back.
But it could be easily fixed: just give an extra card for attacking ANY enemy sector.

anyway paying now attention to eirr2 is a mistake: coh2 sucks and i believe it will fail, game dynamics and poor innovation.
So maybe finish eirr1 before going to eirr2? I think i read somewhere in the forums sth. about other types of cards, giving offmaps or small buffs.

I agree, the warmap doesn't reward me for moving out a fuel or mu buffing sector. I get what, 1 more card that might possibly be a unit that I might want to use, if it even gets access to doctrinal buffs?

Also, COH2 is...bleh. Feels like an expansion, not a full game.

As stated here: EiR:R is considered complete.

Any major changes you may see will be as a testing ground for EiR:2

But what if we just could fix so there was a limit on defensive points? That cant be too hards to fix?

Anyway, i also think its sad to start focusing to much on eir2 since coh2 seems pretty bad atm.

I dont know why you all have your panties in a bunch. We all loved COH1, COH2 is just COH 1 with russians on a better engine.

Plus, we dont really need anything else cause we can pretty much do whatever the hell we want with it once we get things going.

Also, the launcher is independent of any game. We can pretty much port over the entire thing once we get the reporting done right, so it's not like we are starting from scratch again.

stop making this about coh2. Since everyone consider EiR 1 done I thought i would be a good idea to at least fix the warmap before you leave all that you have worked so hard for all these years.

Seriously, all im asking is a limit. 1000. maybe. thats all.

This is a bug.

Defence is meant to be capped at 2000.

I dont know why you all have your panties in a bunch. We all loved COH1, COH2 is just COH 1 with russians on a better engine.

The fact that you think this shows how delusional you are. The only people who would claim such things are people who haven't played COH in ages and can't relate the two. The fact is COH2 has so little in common with COH1 that it might as well be regarded as a non-canon spin-off. It does not remain true to the gameplay or mechanics that made it one of the highest rated RTS of all time with numerous awards, no, that was bulldozed, brutalized and raped, instead relic thought: DoW2 that was good strategy title, let's take that and slap WW2 units on it. Everything that we hated from DoW2: the sluggish movement and unit responses, tank physics, suppression and cover/building mechanics are all in COH2, great, it's like DoW2 all over again. I mean did no one stop to think that maybe 4-man engineer squads, flamethrowers and snipers firing out of halftracks and 6-man support weapon teams were not included in COH for a reason? and things that were enjoyable about COH1 like medics, call-in units and regular defenses were taken out.

The gameplay is extremely dull and dumbed down. It's basically come down to send a unit along this predestined path, fight 1v1 against another squad and then take whatever point is nearby. The interesting maneuvering, positioning, using cover, flanking, building defenses and large scale battles from COH are nowhere to be found. It's made a lot worse by the fact that the maps are absolutely dreadful. How am I supposed to test the game when every map looks like the fucking scheldt. If it's not bridges everywhere, it's deep snow or shallow water, which are essentially the same thing and was avoided in COH for a good reason: it restricts movement. The resource system is also dumbed down, from having interesting resource points layouts with different amounts of income to every point it's now become the same and there are only 2 fuel or munition points on the entire map. The capturing system doesn't make much sense. In COH1 you'd fight over points then capture them, in COH2 you can do both at the same time, so even if you are losing a fight you can successfully capture a point.

What you said about the game being like COH1 with ruskies, it's not. That's what people wanted. Similar gameplay with more units, better balance and small improvements. They didn't want a complete overhaul and reiteration of everything, especially not the gameplay that made the original so enjoyable. Way to go Relic, you butchered an entire series after the first sequel, just like you butchered DoW2.

It's like when you talk about EIR2 you keep bringing up how it will stay clear from the trainwreck that is COH2 and how you'll fix all these issues, but why work on it if it's based on an awful game?

Sharks are not monsters Henley, they are cute, cuddly and misunderstood. They love humans. sometimes they love TOO much. They love people so much that sometimes their kisses separate people into two flailing pieces which are consumed by other sharks in a frenzy of peace and joy.

Hey retard, yeah you! L2p the fucking game and go play some dow2 while at it. As someone who has played a decent chunk of both making such strong comparisons shows how much of a genuine idiot you really are.

I'll agree that Coh2 doesn't feel like coh. i don't know in vcoh it was more chaos or controlled chaos and in coh2 it's a bit more strategy based. you should cap X sector before blizzard comes. you should destroy enemy fires so they cant attack you or stear near.

So i think that it does have a different feel then coh

So will there be a fix at some point? Or have you given up on eir1 and are moving on to eir2?
