I've played it yesterday, and I personally really enjoyed it. I've only play as defender though, but I assume attacking is just as fun as defending.

Quit bitching, it's Omaha beach. you expect it to be a piece of cake as attacker?

New Version: http://files.filefront.com/4p+Overlordsga/;9399008;/fileinfo.htmlAttackers entrance is now on the begin of the sand, should make the whole map quicker n increase fairness. last update for a while (until I get more balance concerns / game reports for a bigger picture how the different doctrines work here now)

I'm not entirely satisfied with this map, I've been watching some replays on it and to me this isn't a "final" map. My problems: - Cliffs are really really high, I'm not sure if you've ever been there but Normandy and Omaha beach didn't look like that... by far . It'd be great if you could actually smoothen and make it a little less dramatic. Even Pointe Du Hoc was not this extreme! - The map is too harsh on the attacker, with only 2 routes to pass through and nothing but chokepoints, even beyond these points I don't see it working too and surviving in the EiR map circulation. - The detail level on the beach is good but once you get beyond it seems like you've put a lot less time in it, plain green fields are not exactly desirable . Concept is great but as far as I'm concerned there's still a lot of work to do for this map to actually be played more than 1 on a random sunday. I also think many players who tested it would agree Keep in mind the goal of the .module file is to provide maps that are added to the map circiulation of EiR players aside from the stock vCoH:OF maps and allow more variety in playstyle. Maps that are, after a certain period has expired, completely forgotten about players due to undesirable features & factors will eventually be pulled out and replaced.

The concept is great indeed although I'm having doubts wether the majority of the community actually enjoys/bothers.

if it is finalised, more detail and tweeks, maybe the cliffs are a bit high BUT i went to a ww2 beach in normandy where the rangers rappeled up the cliffs (can't remember the name) they were high...

Thats pointe du hoc. I've been there too but the scaling in Overlord is still a little off, it's as tall as the damn Monte Blanche.

1. there are 3 ways up wich are tank passable 2. there arent any "plain green fields" i mixed 4-8 textures at any given m² (maybe zoom in a lil more?) [if you want to see pure green check out thtb's new map ]3. the cliffs are that high so it can also display an invasion of britain (stated that a couple of times now i think) 4. i added more and more detail to the beach because it was desired of the community, i want to keep the render calls as low as possible to ensure fast gameplay on all the players machines 5. you may remove it at any time, ur the boss. i think its fine (and i also stated i want some gameplay(!) concerns before i update it again)

Well, it's not my own call but if the map doesn't get played a whole lot, I'm sure people have their reasons!

Ja Unkn0wn, but my problem is, the only people that stated something to a game on overlord so far are, Flamur: "I've played it yesterday, and I personally really enjoyed it. I've only play as defender though, but I assume attacking is just as fun as defending."Thtb: "Not with the water slowing you down like hell."->[moved the attackers spawn to the actual beach, so no movement/retreat in the water anymore. also spawnprotective artillery prevents from blocking of the attackers way up]Cozmo and I played a game, Cozmos statement: "its was a fair game also we all only had a few vet2's at the most." [we won the game attacking]And that was the last post here concerning a game on the map, balance or bugs. I need more reviews wich actually go into detail with problems on the map if there are any, because i really enjoy playing the version. I continue the work on the map like i said (fe allready remade the area with the lone bunker and only some sandbags in the left middle of the map (looking from the beach), but if the community isnt helping with sharing negative experience on the map.. I mean read the thread, I would say everyones enjoying it atm so I see no reason to change anything that would affect gameplay for now. So no way, i dont bulldoze my beautifull cliffs

Yeah without the spawn slowdown its very intresting because of the cliff´s (perfect sniper hideouts btw.)

new version released: - additional flanking possibility in the midland, right side - vegetation added all over the map - workover of the left side in the midland, looking from the beach - some slight height changes to smooth vehicle movement allthough no problems where reported in this matter (see first post or map database for download link)
