So I've been trying to run these ever since the new patch and as mentioned on TS to Lothen and crew, I am finding that I am getting my face wrecked by Stuarts.
Not even close to an even fight. The 25% extra damage the Stuart gun is getting vs almost all light armor types and relatively low reload time is problematic vs the Hotch. After diving into Corsix, I noticed the upgun Hotch 50mm also suffers much worse moving accuracy compared to the Stuart and Chaffee gun, 50% vs 25% debuff and has at least a 20% accuracy debuff if it's target is moving unless that target has Churchill or Cromwell armor. Hotch has an extra 100 hp advantage but I am still losing these exchanges pretty handily.
So I am stuck being able to only hit a Stuart when I am not moving, while he can kite around me and hit me with a 25% damage bonus. Pen of each gun is so high against the Stuart armor type that it is moot. Non upgun Hotch 37mm doesn't suffer from the same accuracy problems but fires at a much slower rate and like the upgun version doesn't have any damage bonuses vs light armor types. Another slap in the face is why does the Hotch upgun 50mm have a 10% accuracy, 25% damage debuff against Universal carrier armor? Hell it has an extra 25% accuracy debuff if the Bren carrier is moving.
Does the Stuart gun still need all of those damage bonuses and what is the role should the upgun Hotch be fulfilling? Pure heavy tank hunters?
The tank doesn't even have coax mgs to tickle infantry and 90% base debuff accuracy vs all infantry armors with additional 50 to 80% accuracy debuff if the infantry is moving. Stuart and Chaffee suffer just the 90% debuff accuracy vs infantry. Not saying at all that the upgun Hotch should be able to kill infantry but the tank is really, really pigeon holed into doing one thing compared the Stuart and Chaffee. Pretty sure it can't really beat the Chaffee; guns seem to do relatively the same dps - higher damage vs rate of fire - but the Upgun Hotch has greater accuracy issues and it's slower than the Chaffee and Stuart.
