im with kolath and gamma commander

the orginal game most likely wont hold up past 1-2 months of playing (hey, SC is still fun for a short time)

but thats not what blizz RTS's are about anymore, they are about 2 things.

1. the story
2. the Engine \Custom maps

Apparently one of the big Starcraft tournaments in Korea started earlier today, and the next round of matches is for the next few days.  The tournament is for the first time being broadcasted in english so I've been watching them.

http://gsi.gomtv.com/

Just go there and go to VOD there is a list of the matches, fucking love watching these starcraft tournaments.

Blizzard stands for quality. I dont know how it is with starcraft, but warcraft still is one of my fav. game´s - the easyly usable editor and the battle.net + the great community and million of custome maps going from Lord of the ring-RPG/RTS to Star Treck - borg assimilation,  mini game, ts mazes and more make it still one of the best game´s.

There is no need for your aggresion.

So what you are saying, is the game itself isn't that awesome, but people CHANGING the game away from the original makes it awesome? People that are not Blizzard.

Blizzard provided a great WorldEditor and a very Stable Online network that allows quick shareing and playing. Gameing 2.0 kicked in and made it godlike.

So yeah; Yes.

To bad relic/thq didn´t act the same way (adding a auto download if you dont have a map for example?)

Yeah, except OMGWTF ZERGER RUSH!! BUILD FIREBATS is not my idea of "fun". Every game in Starcraft plays out the same damn way, gets boring after 6 matches.

There's a reason Zerg(ling) Rush has such a fearsome reputation, and it wasn't because Starcraft was excellently balanced at release. And let's not forget the Zealot Rush.

Starcraft took years to achieve balance...much like every other game.

Did you watch some tournament matches? Have you even played starcraft? It never plays out the same damn way.  It seems like you just hate the game for some reason.

I haven't played Starcraft in a while... gotta admit, when I watched one of those tourney matches it was rather exciting.

Starcraft lacks the complications of a cover system, soft counters, resource style, and heavily armor vehicle units that CoH offers. In a CoH, you cannot mass Riflemen and expect them to kill a Stug or Panzer 4. On Starcraft, Marines will pretty much be a counter to anything short of Battlecruisers with fully upgraded armor or cloaked units. It doesn't mean Starcraft is a bad game, but once you play CoH, all the old rock, paper, scissor formula just doesn't appeal anymore.

I sincerely dissagree, there are plenty of strategy games old and new out there that don't utilize cover systems but are still very appealing.

soft counters huh? resource style huh? as oppose to gathering minerals just capture territory and gain minerals...? don't see how that really determines if the game lacks complications.  Then again to each game its own.
