Is this your first map btw?
Oh and just from looking at the screenshots:
you should avoid getting a HQ set-up area if the map is purely for use with EiR, the sandbags, HQ attributes will remain while the HQ does not appear in game so it'll look really weird.

And as a sidenote: "Flags" also do not work properly in Eir so don't bother putting them, not that you have, but for future reference Wink.

With this in mind, it's important to note that your map should basically not have a clear "HQ area" as seen in vCoH maps, you could perfectly have the HQ in the middle of a city, you can even hide it in a forest or whatever. Reason for this is that it doesn't show up ingame and thus serves no use other than telling the map builder how many players are on the map. (In EiR that is ofcourse)

I see some great stuff from first look, good use of detail, splines, only some splats but it's only a beta afterall.

You could also experiment with different "base tiles" as the current yellow one looks really.. deserty Tongue. (Just select like grass mixed 1/2/3 or any other and press "assign" to make it the ground layer.)
You can always add other tiles above it by adding tiles to the white box and then using them.

A great tip for using splats, some splines and tiles in general is using transparancy alot, it will make the map look and feel more natural. For additional information you can always open up a relic map, you'll learn alot by just doing that and checking it out Smiley.

Keep up the good work!
(And feel free to ask away.)

Ok i'm back with a few small updates. Here is version 0.6 of the 2p_Crossroad map:

http://files.filefront.com/2p_Crossroadv6rar/;7145690;/fileinfo.html

Changes:
Mainly the "startpositions" have been reworked on, added quite a few objects in what used to be the "base perimeters". Also changed the main tile texture to something a little greener to make it look less desertic. I added a few new screenies.
Just need to test it a bit more and mess around with it.

Good good!

I see you have improved, however I'm still noticing some dull empty areas.

To start with, I'd suggest changing the base grass texture, the current yellow grass type really does the map no honor. In tiles menu, click on grass (that is the base layer) then select any other type of tile (best if you go with grass) from the menu and press assign.

You should then get a different grass as base layer.
(I generally use grass mixed 2 for most of my maps, looks best imho.)

Also look into splats and try placing some more splats all over the map, it makes empty areas look less plain. Best for grass splatting are dirt, explosions, crater dirt, branches, leavesn grasspatches, etc. (Check relic maps and experiment with some Smiley) Throw down ALOT, and I really mean ALOT. Also don't forget to play around with transparancy as that really makes a huge difference.

Edit: oh and don't be shy to place alot more random grass (small quantities) all around the map, really makes it look better in general. (especially under trees, bushes, etc)

Ok this is the pretty much final map, it's still open to changes, but most objects have been placed, so there won't be anymore major changes. The following updates will be more for estetic changes.

Link to version 0.90 : Actual release of the map:

Enjoy!

note: this is as said before my first map, so go easy on the critics.
