Just a small poll as I would like to have an idea of what will become the most favorite company/doctrine on each side. In general, in the alpha at least, there wont be any huge differences between the different companies/doctrines but the specific units & upgrades + abilities that they allow you to use can surely make a difference in battle.

Also feel free to write down why you would chose for company/doctrine X and not company/doctrine Y.
This may also help us later on when we try to balance them, so we have all of them being played.

Thanks!

P.S:
if you don't have any clue what I'm talking about, take a look at the information preview thread.

(Note that the costs, units and doctrines are all still subject to minor and possibly major changes later on)

Blitz, as always. Although i´m pretty sure defense will be tough to beat if u get attacked and terrors artillery is very useful.
And actually, because u dont get any units while playing the tactical game, Blitz will be quite weak i think. But I gotta have my Storms.

I'll probably go infantry.  Although i think it needs buffing up in normal CoH, i think theyll rock in the Online War.

I think I'd go defensive because of the awesome defensive bunkers and 88s.

I think the US armour companies should get all tanks cheaper, because being able to buy a pershing and having one extra ability really isn't worth it. If they get cheaper tanks, then they can play a very useful role as the assault companies, good for breaking through defences or winning straight fights. Of course, they would hopefully be at a disadvantage in tight city environments, because of their focus on armour. Perhaps limit the amount of infantry they can take as well, I dunno.

For the Alpha the differences between Armor/Infantry/Airborne are indeed rather small so some companies/doctrines will come out way better.

This will all be fixed in the ongoing balancing program that starts as soon as the beta launches.

It's also very likely that in the future we'll add alot more company/doctrine specific abilities, units, costs, etc.
(Since it could be interesting if Armor companies do in fact have more Armor and more fuel to play with)

how is it going to work with some doctrine abilites that are dependant upon supply points such as the armor raid ability and the defensive increased visual range ability?

Those will simply not be in the game.  HOwever, we will be balancing during the entire alpha and beta as well as adding new features to each doctrine.

thx for the reply, sounds good.

Might i suggest the ablity of commanders who take the armor choice get an ability that perhaps gives them a bit more fuel to acess their division's focus? Nothing too much but there needs to be some kind of incentive for armor without the raid ability and having tanks be much more rare in general.

We are already looking into that option as it would indeed seem normal that an armor commander has more armor units, more fuel to spend, etc...

But for the alpha the company/doctrines will not differ that much yet aside from the unique abilities and units.

That is ofcourse, like most things, subject to change in the future.

Some cool doctrine abilities might be something like "10% less fuel cost on all tanks".

Good thinking Smiley

Aah I didn't even put it into the context of doctrine/company abilities yet, I thought he was referring to cheaper tanks and such in general. (upon purchasing the units).

Although those abilities usually serve purpose ingame and the mentioned ability for instance would only serve its purpose upon purchasing them but it would be really neat if every company/doctrine could indeed have a few advantages upon purchasing certain troops compared to other doctrines.

(Then you'd have "Ingame Doctrine Abilities" and the more purchase related "Out of Game Doctrine Benefits")

Very good thinking indeed.

How about adding a doc ability for riflemen to purchase shotguns?
