My first forum post (noob Axis player) - but hopfully a helpful one relating to the topic a hand.
Ive played three games won a defense lost 2 attacks in that order (so yes im directly part of the cause of our last floppy forward push
)
As a new player of the mod ive noticed very few (none) tactical guidance notes for players converting from regular COH to EIR anywhere
obvious, this coupled with most new players joining the Axis team (so ive read on the forums) would seem to contribute to the problem at hand.
I consider myself an averagely skilled player (rank 7/8 Whermacht in COH no mean feat vs OP Strafe/Rangers/Commandos etc...) & yet i played the worst 2 games of recent memory in my 2 lost attack matches.
The reason I identified (& have now put right) was that I only created a single (balanced - not overly attack or defence orientated) company when joining the mod, not surprisingly on my 2 offensive games after my initial wave of inexperienced Storms & Grens were killed off i found my reserve full of AT guns/HMG/pioneers with Bunker build options not very useful in digging out Vet 3 Yanks well dug in on maps they new well.
Now u may say to yourself how silly of me (& i agree in hindsight) but during the creation process of my legendary suicide company the following thoughts were uppermost in my mind :-
- OMG look at all the gear i can get straight at the start of the match none of this build order bollocks for me anymore Gimmi it all.
- If i make just one company & use it every match just think how fast ill get experience ill be rank 3 Vetted in no time (obviously if they survive - which they didn't
)
- Damn me its taken me ages to pick all these glorious units ill easy win some engagements with this pretty bunch, why on earth do i need two other company slots it'll take me all night to complete those, think ill leave that & just join a match.
So in summary to new players out there build at least 2 companies one for offense & one for defence, im certain it'll improve my play alot.
