COH was based created as the next generation of RTS, and its predicesor DOW helped creat it fondation. Personal i think the DOW series is great, im not saying that cus i love Warhammer40k, but it is one of the most uniqe RTS out there, but sadly it is outdated. this has been provin with the new expansion pack.
however it is a great game to mod, there are hundreads of mods for DOW so if you need somthing to spice up your game, you can almost always find it. and im saying this as a DOW mod team leader.
i am glad that they are finaly bringing the DOW series up to spec, and it is due time. i dont know how DOW2 would use the COH enqine as it can not suport mellee combat. and warhammer40k in its savige glory is largly about gory frunt line melle combat.
shur a COH expansion would be great but DOW 2 has priority. i trust relic will do this greatly as all there RTS games are fun.

um no i know of a mod, it was an old zombie mod, they tryed to get zombies to use melle attacks. they could never get it to work, even now they dont have true melle they have it so that the units range is noexistant and that the firing animation looks like a melle attack.
Ever wonderwhy we cant charge in and baonet the ebemy, or club with a rifle. bisides the fact that WWII rarly had such things as a vilable tatic, the engine could simply not hadle it.

Modders, especially those for Relic, have very little 'hardware' control when it comes to the Essence engine. They might not be able to do it, but Relic certainly could.

Relic never releases the actual code part of their engines, so modders have to make do with what is already present. That is why fl can't say; change the CoH loading screen to a EiR one.

Also, I lost a game due to not enough anti-infantry units, so airborne get double damage at each vet level.
More changes to come.

well ya Warhammer DOW has always been easy to mod compard to COH but its way to basic. im glad to see relic actualy taking a step forward on this. it will be nise to have a more relistic warhammer40k game.
truly DOW series is compleatly screwed fluf wise hopfully the can fix that

It's THE essence engine, not Essence 2. It's updated and upgraded; they spent 5 years building it; I doubt they would use it only for one game. Look at Impossible Creatures engine, it was used on Dawn of War and all the expansion backs; yet it doesn't look like it. Its because they updated and upgraded it. |

ya unless your a fan of the DOW series SS isent realy the game you want to buy. i would sugest first geting DC or the orignal cus iron lore real dident do very well on SS
