If you're running vista make sure you run the EiR_Launcer as administrator. To do this just right click the file and "Run as Administrator".

If that doesn't work, right click the file go to "compability" and tick in "run this program as Administrator".

This will allow the launcher to created the battle files needed for you to play EiR.

It's Vista sometimes stuff works sometimes it doesn't. This is just here for people who run vista, and have trouble getting eir running, seen it being a major issue.

Edit: I run as administrator by default and i had this problem.

The launcher can't create the battle files needed to play, if it isn't running as administrator.

have you tried to set the directory permissions for the CoH Basedir so that every user can write there ?
better then running stuff as admin.

You are right. I have vista and I have been getting scar errors and the only way I can play is running it through the launcher and as administrator, but the bad thing is it won't let me use the mic.

actually, if you just disable the user control thingy, dunno what its called in english, you get rid of the most questions.
running stuff as admin is, speaking from a security pov, what you should avoid at most times.
have to admit tough that vista, with basic settings, can be very annoying in that respect.

I heard that disabling UAC was not always the best thing since it is an important part of Vista.

ive disabled about a week after i installed vista and that was...hmm, 6-7 months, cant really say had i problems since then.
its not even as important as they want you to believe it is  Cheesy
as long as you dont run everything as admin its uses are limited anyway.

sound problems are something different with vista.
there is an option know, in english it should be something like "Applications have exclusive control over this device". when thats
enabled only 1 application can use a sound device at a time.
had this really weird problem when i was running world of warcraft and had winamp in the background that winamp wouldnt work with that option enabled.

The Launcher should automatically request running in Administrator mode. I must have messed it up somehow though. Without having Vista it is hard for me to fix it =)
