While you're at it Ak, can you just go ahead and delete all forum posts concerning calliopes?  I'm sick of reading about them and there seem to be like 30 started every day.  In fact, can we just hand out a 1 week ban for the next tard that starts the next calliope thread?

I deleted one this morning.

@Anthony, this will never be like RN so I don't know why you keep bringing it up. Do you this type of thing when your work tell it's employees to start working harder or you'll get the sack?

Except im not at work here...

Anthony,

While I understand you point, what I think you should consider is this, akrandas as the mod outlined some rules and requests to keep this mod clean.   They arn't been followed. realitically he has every right at that point to go and delete a whole heap of posts and had out a heap of bans to a whole range of players for their failure to adhere to these request.

Instead he's asking again for the benifit of the doubt angle.   What I don't understand is your position, is it to prod and poke for that very sake or do you just want rile against the establishment.  If its a free speech argument well then no need the forums are allowed to conduct almost any topic just be civil.  Further at what point do you take this as an attack against you. Unless you have somthing to be concerend about, there for declaring guilt, then the fear of being in the wanted list might be warrented.

But from what i can see your pretty clear so whats the issue.

Your not working when you not working; yet their are punishments for breaking rules that you must follow. Do you complain about those as well?

Im not working when im not working?

Im not complaining about the rules themselves, we know them.  Im complaining about you constantly reminding everyone of the rules and threatening to hand out suspensions.

There is a thread with all the rules listed there, its stickied and easy for everyone to read.  If someone breaks the rules, deal with it thats your job that you volunteered for.  No one held a gun to your head and told you that you HAD to be the moderator of the EiR forums.  We dont need to have warning threads and "Dear Community" threads reminding us of the rules that are clearly posted or threats of suspensions.

If a company I worked for was constantly reminding me of the rules and constantly threatening to fire me I would probably try to find a new job  Roll Eyes

I am not attacking Akranadas, I applaud him for wanting to do this job because I sure would not.  This has nothing to do with him as a mod, and more to do with threats like these.  The rules are listed, if people dont read them that is their problem.  If someone breaks the rules, delete their post and send em a PM to read the rules or something.  If they keep doing it then just suspend em.  no need for new threads like this.  I mean come on we just had the first "Dear Community" post like a week or so ago and now we have another one?  Whats gonna happen if you find people arent listening to this warning?  Dear Community again again!....

Just because the internet (anonymity) tends to make people act like asses does not mean you should gladly participate. Plenty of people can be on the internet without feeling the "need" to act like a child, Akranadas is clearly one of them, if he can do it, why are most of you incapable of resisting the so-called "urge" to act stupid? (including me).

Umm acting like an ass != acting like a child.

I act like a child, just like I often do in real life. I'm very immature.
I don't think I act as an ass... much.

Well I think you understood my point Phil, you are able to pull it off because you make everyone chuckle every time, but the complete lack of acknowledgment for any of the rules Akranadas posted here is getting on my nerves. Many of you are breaking the rules right inside this thread, which is supposed to dictate the rules >.<.

I'm not expecting much from you guys, but could you "all" (not everyone is breaking the rules, but 90% of the people here are) at least show a little decency out of respect to Akranadas? "Its the internet" is not in any way a justification for asinine behavior.

no, but its the reason for it...

rest of this post isnt directed at you roflmao, just to clear that up in advance  Wink

ofcourse, this doesnt make it ok but from my experience if you dont enforce a rather strict rule Anonymity + lack of sanctions + message boards = utter asshat.
this is also why i think that if someone gets sanctiond this should be public and not via pm.
better to show people where the border is by banning one guy and letting know them instead of banning 15 people in secret cause they think they can get away with it.

and dont even get started on free speech cause thats not how it works.
ive seen boards where there was no moderation at all and none of them lived for very cause it simply became anarchy after a while.

I recommend handing out some suspensions (start with a few hours then maybe 24 horus).  And make their user pic just black with "Suspended" in red like the RN forums banned pics.

I thought Akra was doing a good job by posting these threads, he obviously wanted to spare people from getting suspended and banned, can't you just be happy about that?  Sad

Well yeah, I don't think Akranadas mind's non-serious posts, as long as his point gets through Smiley.

Hopefully this will make some people realize that bitching through posts in threads is not amusing. I log on to read some threads and I find atleast 3/5 derailed; 2/5 with a flamewar (sometimes the same people flaming eachother in 2 different threads); and others with useless posts. I mean how many "ZOMG KallIOPe is TEH OPZEs" threads do we need? 1 where people can discuss would be nice but as of right now it is more like 4 threadsd where people do not make a valid point they just run in and go "Calliope killed my stuff, it is OP, fix". I like the guidelines bonnet made on RN for balance discussions; state something, give your opinion on it, possible ideas, and then allow a discussion to take place, simply making a thread with a rant of your last game does not good.

Here is to hopefully better times on the forums *raises gatorade bottle to monitor*.
