hello so i just signed up for EiR and read the beginning guide and watch the tutorial video but i cant figure out how to set up my company.  First of all the company purchasing menu looks alot different than the one shown in the video.  Every time i try to drag a unit in that isnt a take it shows up as red and it does this for all the tabs including infantry.

Ah, that is because the population of that platoon is too low. The population must be between .. I think 8 and 25 is it? Someone else will have to give you the exact numbers.

Drag a few more units into the box and it should turn .. green?

Each platoon needs to have minimum pop cap of 8 in it, and max of 25, else it will be redded out.

E.g. riflesquad = 5 pop, engineers = 3 pop = OK
2 x Engineers = 6 pop = XXX

In case you also needed advice on what to put in your companies, I would suggest for your opening units (core)

you should make sure you open with some AT, as well as some upgraded infantry, and support teams. You need to make your units ready for anything. Of course once you have played for awhile you may come up with wacky openings (some weird ones ive seen are 5 quads, or 2 crocs, or 2 greyhounds). And of course if you are defending you will most likely want 2-3 eng/pios for puting out wire/tank traps. I'll let you know what my openings are in 2 companies.

For one of my offensive axis companies I open with:

1 pak (keep this sucker cloaked and covering your mortars)
1 lmg and shreck gren squad (good anti-infantry, and the schreck to make sure your AT gun is fine if it gets flanked)
2 mortar (great for degarrisioning buildings)
1 MG (to cover AT guns and mortars)
1 Bike (for scouting targets for my mortars, or to suicide to check out what my enemy has)
1 pio with repair bunker (if you go blitz or terror you get to upgrade pios with repair bunkers)

I like the early repair bunker because it means I can keep my bike for a good part of the beginning of the game if I micro it right. Also it lets me bring out early armor, and keep it alive which can really hurt the enemy. You bring out an ostwind it takes out 10-12 troops, the enemy thinks he damages it enough to retreat it off map, when in reality you just sit it at the repair bunker for a little bit then send it back out at them.

For defense on one of my allied companies

1 AT gun with AP rounds (i try to put them on all my AT guns)
2 engs, both upgraded with mines, 1 with an MG bunker, other with triage (triage is only available to infantry doctrine)
1 BARd rifle squad
1 Jeep
1 MG with AP rounds (i try putting this on all my MGs, keeps pumas and HTs away)
1 mortar

Pretty much, like to be ready for anything with my first units on the field, simply because I've been rushed with greyhounds, pumas, tanks, infantry blobs, so i keep my stuff varied.

phil can u make the max dynamic..so it works with doctrine abilities that is...like since i have joint ops i should be able to put 26-28 pop per platoon..
