It will suppress it, combine it with a couple other rifle squads and its a party. Of course a single BAR rifle squad will not beat a blob, but you can use it to slow or stop one from moving in a meaningful way. Especially if you add a couple backup units.

You forgot to mention two things..assuming that the blob does not kill the bar squad before it actually starts supressing, if it does supress, then there will be a rain of rockets/shells coming down on them.

Bars usually supress 1 squad, then pinn it, and supress all the other squads in the immediate area around the squad (i would say somewere along the lines of 2-3 meters away from the pinned squad, or right on the same spot).

I LIKE PIE! Also fixed some typos  Grin

Tank? Sherman? King Tiger? Calliope rockets from hell?

They will solve any 'blob' problem for ya.

Assuming BARs work the same as in vCOH then all this talk of pinning blobs is wrong.

BARs were changed many, many, many, many patches ago to only suppress one squad at a time. They used to suppress everyone in the area but i think the same patch that reduced them to two BARs per squad changed suppression fire.

You could conceivable suppress 3 squads maximum, assuming they had no vet and no other anti-suppression mechanism. In all liklihood you could suppress 2 squads in EIR most of the time.

Why should one infantry squad be able to kill a blob of infantry squads anyway?

Well, a MG42 can stop a blob where a .30 Cal will probably get outgunned. So why shouldn't BARs be able to stop a blob of infantry? They're afterall, the Allies's equivalent to heavy suppression.
Probably get outgunned? .30 cals aren't as shit as everyone says. If I see a 30 cal in a building I don't charge it with Grens. In my post I was referring to GI. When I played allies, and I used the BAR, it would almost instantly suppress each squad I right clicked on. Maybe it's changed...

People don't know how to micro their BARs =) You know you can hit SF and switch the target whenever it suppresses a squad. The much feared blob is usually 3-4 squads of infantry. If you need to stop more, get a second BAR squad and a .30, that will stop it cold. Oh, and remember, cover is you friend, I see so many riflemen standing out in the middle of clearings and fields.

i'm sure with your godlike micro and ability to ignore the game mechanics then suppressing 4 squads with 1 bar squad is easy. The rest of us play CoH.

Suppressing Fire is powerful but it stopped suppressing blobs about 9 months ago.

Reading the first posts, it's pretty much being suggested that schrecks works like panzerfausts, where it's an ability, but to keep things reasonable it should be an unlimited ability?

You do know that if you switch targets the moment they get suppressed they'll be back on their feet in only a matter of seconds right?

Oh AMPM, god of EiR, please show all us ignorant, shitty EiR players how to use the divine weapon that is the BAR.

if the .30 cal is no in a building, it will get killed before i can supress 2 squads out of that blob, while the mg42  pinns my guys in about 3 bursts.

And ampm, the bar is not as good as you make it sound not even close.

I tried this idea.

This, IMHO, is the best combo for a game-ender:

Two platoons of 20 each, each plattoon has 2 volks and 2 gren.

Give each volks a panzerfaust and 1 gren two shreks, another two lmg's.

It will eat up anything from the allies thrown at it. If it had to, two of these groups would eat up a KT instantly! For extra winnage give your volks mp40s or replace them with vet'ed crossholders.

Also, I lost a game due to not enough anti-infantry units, so airborne get double damage at each vet level.

More changes to come.

Yes but i fail to see how thats relevant.

If you disagree with me and you think a BAR can suppress anything more than 3 volks squads then by all mean show me a replay or at least argue your point, otherwise I stand by it. You're living in the past if you think BARs can suppress blobs.
