First some Media to get you intrested;
All ingame footage, those are actually un-moded.

Quick Trailer;

BlackHawkDown;
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=mnQDvlqlsjg

http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=yLawzheGnzc

I owned the game, played it for months, uninstalled it sometime, wantted to play again,but lost the manual, then searched for the manual (with the cd-key).
Didnt find it for nearly a month, finally found it, seems i lost the cd, but now i finally found that, too!
Yay.

To get started you will need the basic install, all the patches and for looks we propatly have to mod. There are many mods, actually, a whole fucking lot.
The one single mod that does most for the game propatly is XAM (Xtream Arma Mod)

Here is the Homepage;
http://www.armedassault.com/
and here a nice community page for all your mod-ing needs;
http://www.armaholic.com/

The Game itself has a nice singleplayer campagin, but its all about the multiplayer.
All in there is costume, d.h. maps all-a WCIII where the complete gameplay is chanced, the most played variation is "evulotion" where you "lvl up" in rank if you complete objectivs or just kill a whole lot. Each rank gives acces to better weapons (and there are many) and vehicles (and there are even more from a bike to a-10).

You have the most fun if you teamwork as a squad, its fucking awesome! If noone dicks off that is. Its a very very realistic game. One shot and your boned.
All buildings are destroyable, so are the trees, bridges and props. Just the ground does not get deformed.

Give it a try, close one eye if bugs come up and enjoy.

i think everybody knows about ArmA, Smiley, it is a simulator not a game.

There are even such things a virtual corps, clans if you will, of people who do military operations together in ArmA, usually a mix of the newer recruits and bots make up the enemy. I would rather play Airsoft.

ArmA was alright, it did get frustrating because of how easy it was to fail objectives. It also has unrealistic requirements for PC, and thus hurt it's chances at being good.

I'd rather play BF2 or OpFl2 over ArmA

Operation Flashpoint 2? come again?
Not released yet afaik.

Got ArmA, and the Original Operation Flashpoint plus all the expansions.

Got a mate I play evolution with, alright except the games bugs/crashes keep it from being overly enjoyable.

No, Cozmo its a german gamer community, no clan. We have a own server (955i) where we play togther, if someone joins they either get on teamspeak or get kicked out. Idiots and retards get kicked out, too. All members that have profen themself worthy have the admin password.

There is something as a "rank" based on how much you play, how good you are and if your a good commander. I was 3rd in Rank ;P Well until I left for eir. Still have TS - SA though.

Also that not really the point, you cant use our server, its germans only. (For better communication)

For all the "Wahhahwahahrarraallalala-Graphic"-Guys, I prefer 5 km sight range for accuracte bombing and snipeing over 100m grass and flower power.

If it's a German only community and the majority of western European community members here already know about ArmA, why'd you bother posting about it?  Especially since it's German only or get out.

some videos from our last mission:

www.vimeo.com/1466730

watch: "[24SAS] Impossible TO" (shortest DC3 take off ever, the pilot also landed on that length of grass too Smiley!)

and "Dejongs Landing" (our pilot deconned and dejong took over flying the DC3, he has almost no flying exp and his landing was quite funny!) - I was watching from the hanger, if you look you can see some destoyed stuff on the left had side, that was me trying to fly a little bird.

"[24SAS] Zulu Flight Extraction" is the same mission but it is only us being extracted.
