Get back on track people.


Basically I guess the community in general is asking 3 questions.

1.  Is 2.0 actually on track, is Ucross directing people as they work on coding it to release it?

2.  Are all devs done with it currently; and if so, what is the problem of handing over the code to people that are more than willing to continue the work that has already been done on it to keep the community going, get 2.0 out and further the mod.

3.  If nothing is being done on EiR for the time being, why cant someone (a compatent person that is) be given all that is needed to make adjustments to the mod (in the form of unit costs, and game balance patches) so that we have more balancing going on while it is in "sleep mode?"

Ill do it, and I know that there has been at least 2 others that have said they would do it too.  Its something that needs to get done, which means that FL or Ucross needs to get on here and actually read whats going on, not ignore whats going on.

loads of people will do it, iv wanted to be a mod (or help in anyway for that matter) ever since i got here.

If my "calculations" are correct 2.0 is suppose to be a massive over-haul, right? That was FL's plan, he wanted it to be perfect, thus the elongated wait. However we all know that it won't be balanced, and that there will be bugs and perhaps game changing ones at that. When 2.0 is released I doubt the devs (whoever they may be at this point) will want to work on fixing it and we will be playing a "slightly" broken EiR game.

This is why large is bad, we had large patches very frequently and as all of you know that fucked balance more than Ron Jeremy. When we switched over to small patches at longer times things were better. So I know my voice is moot, but let this be a lesson, large is not always good smaller steps will get you somewhere.

Now, on to eat my Chicken Pot-Pie.

Is it possible to take what we have here, and possibly have a community viewing of the changes? Who all here knows RGD?  I am learning, but if we look at the mod changes, we could have some idea where to start, or at least make a statement of understanding to the Devs.  I know its a bit drastic, but maybe we need to show competence with FL's baby in order for a idea of openess to be considered.

I believe this is what was planned for initial release
- Single resource ('RP = Resource Point')
- Dynamic Cost
- Deployment Time (to replace population)
- New veterancy system
- British/PE
- Rating system (ANTS)

I got this from a reliable source (rofl), but not all of it might make it in the initial 2.0 although I'm guessing most of it will. Now you also see why 2.0 has been taking so long in the first place, it's basically a massive overhaul of the entire mod & everything we have in place functioning properly . (They're basically starting from scratch... again)

I'm sure everyone already knew about this.

I know how to RGD edit, and generally make a Company of Heroes mod as I am making my own anyway. I've offered countless times to both Ucross and Fldash to let me help them while they are gone, through either doing basic price balance, restating wars, processing battles and later actually adding this to EiR, but even when I post things in the Dev forum, I get no actual answer.

Hell, they haven't even noticed that I'm letting there forum go to shit.

I don't want to see you or anyone else get all excited and worked up about helping the mod out only to be crushed when after a month and a half of no answers from the dev team, like I was.

Good luck, as Akra said, he has PM's turned off, and the only way i know of getting ahold of him is when he is on vent, playing AoC.  And then you have to set up a private chat.  So who knows.  I wish he would have the compassion to not let this die and give it to us.  I know its hard, when its your baby and your work, but whats the worst that could happen?
