Probably Critic Hits. It is also important the direction your 88 was pointing at, it takes some time to aim correctly.

Croc can circle strafe it, hence why you should never rely solely on a flak for your AT. Get at least 1 shreck squad supporting it or something to block the croc.

i usually use a flak to kill tanks, not to support my anti tank units! croc should not be able to kill a flak, to circle strafe it...

You don't use a flak as your only AT weapon

And I usually use hmg to kill infantry not to support my anti infantry units, volks and grens shouldn´t be able to kill it, to flank it..

If a flak automatically nullified all armoured vehicles it would be a bit of an overpowered unit. However a flak is still likely to be able to kill a croc if it starts firing from far enough away - use a spotter unit so you can see it sooner or something, the flak has an enormous range.

An 88 is supposed to be a long-range, fear-inducing, kill-this-damn-thing-at-all-costs unit. Not a zomgwftbbqsauce-pwn-all-tanks unit. Allied armor sucks as-is, so if a croc manages to close in and circlestrafe an unprotected 88, its your fault.

Spot with a bike, the 88 has crazy range, but it has poor sight, spot and win.
Support your flak of doom with a pak or some shreks.

88 suffers against a lot of things @ close range. Blame the turn speed imo, it's just not fast enough.

88's are epic at long range and are amazing AT if even slightly supported.  but there not so good at close range especially if not supported so keep a shreck or something near the 88 and u will be fine

You might wanna give the 88 a spotter and a backup AT unit. Remember the golden rule, always have auxillery or secondary AT to back up your primary AT and the 88 is NOT an exception.

All of this said, be prepared to have constant artillery strikes on the 88 until you no longer bother using it.

Which is a good thing because then the Howitzer barrages spent decrewing the 88 will not be aimed at your troops. The 88 is disposable afterall and if it kills one Sherman, then it has made up its cost in Fuel. If it kills a Mortar team, then it has made up its cost in manpower.

Calliope barrages on the other hand, are a bit more tricky. The Calliope's shotgun effect means you can decrew the 88 with probably one or two barrages whereas a Howitzer would take multiple barrages to just decrew the thing.

Flaks are overpriced by around 20% on all res, especially with that pop cap.

I pointed that out several times

Flaks are fine, especially as they act like a magnet to enemy troops.
I still have that picture of the 88 surrounded by 9 sherman wrecks (5 normal, 4 crocs) in a 2v2.
Also, a Howitzer Barrage will likely decrew it, but it's a half volks squad away from being retaken.
On open maps like RtC, 88s can hardly be countered by anything but heavy artillery.

not all the time. If you can get a direct spot on the howie on the first shot, you can decrew it rather easily. and if u have the t3 on the arty tree. you can def hit it, and an even better chance if howie is vet 1 (25% accuracy) i have more issues decrewing with callies cuz you want to make sure u stand off to shoot so u dont get hit by the 88 or any protecting AT.
