It doesn't seem quite a slick as CoH, but i guess that is because I'm used to CoH... the text is a bit small, I have to pause the game (against CPU) to read what the upgrades do.

Is the army painter functional?

I've got it and I love it so far.  May be an acquired taste for some, however.

Is the army painter functional?

Not yet.  The colorschemes they have to choose from so far cover most any of the fluffy armies for the different races that you could want.  As for the Eldar (been playing them mostly) the manner in which they applied the color to units is much more reflective of existing paint schemes in 40k than in DoW I.  They look beautiful.

I lacks something that made COH excellent in my opinion. It's kinda feels a little to clean for the Warhammer Universe. Although, the more I play it the more I like it.

It just didn't have that instant punch to the face like COH did.

Wish I could play it, but GFWL logs me out every five minutes whenever I'm in a game.  Undecided

My first impressions...

Not very impressed,  unless the beta isnt including all the units.   9 units... come on.

I see myself getting bored with this quickly unless there are more buildings and units.

Other than that it seems decent,  IMO CoH is a lot better.

Even though theres only 9 units, as eldar I only ever use 4 sometimes 5 in the average 1v1.

I don't think in DoW 1 there were more units per race.

Personally I've played the entire DoW series and have logged 95+ hours in the last 2 weeks playing the DoW2 beta.

There's a great deal of things I miss from the original DoW that I think should have been in DoW2. I mean when they consider the Predator to be SM's tier 3 unit.. that's just wrong.. where the hell is my Land Raider?

1v1 is quite lacking right now since there's quite a few bugs and exploits players can use to win. On top of that the balance.. is a little off scale as well as the match making system.

Team play is not as fun as EIR, but definitely better than CoH team games.

Overall I have to say that it's a refreshing new game. I think that the way they've implemented suppression instead of morale is exquisite. They did a good job balancing most units already. The game looks very promising and look forward to it's release at the end of Feb.

P.S. Windows Live sucks, but since DoW2 is the first mainstream game to hit WL there will most likely be changes to the system to make it more functional and community friendly.

Windows Live might suck, but it still manages a whole lot better than Relic Online.

Epic disagreement.  I've never had as many problems with Relic Online that I've had with Windows Live.  Even when RO was in it's early days, I could at least connect to people when my ports are open.  And unlike Windows Live, which likes to disconnect in the middle of the fucking game at least once you get a match with RO, it's P2P basically.

Overall, disappointed with the beta.  Now I'm waiting for Total War Empires.

Yeah I signed up for Empire: Total War demo a few weeks ago. Looks like a more intuitive Civ game with actual graphics.

Should be coming out eather this week or next week.  Thats a guess but they released the past two games (Rome Total War and Medieval Total War) exactly a month before release.  Release date is March 4th I think so sometime around February 4th would be a good guess.  If I had to guess a day Id say this Friday.
